Today's post features of the work of Delaney Mitchell on IG @help.dee

Intuitive, obsessive, distorted graphite powder drawings, sculptures, and soundscapes invoke mood to cummon feelings. Themes of abuse, gender identity, and marginal sexualization are suspended in dark grey limbo. Visually represented memories, pagan symbolism, rigorous fixation of line, and liminal environments signify paths taken after something execrable occurs.

Exhibition views of Take Me Back open this week at The Studio, Innovation Village (F2069). Gallery open Tues - Fri 10 am - 5 pm, Saturday 11 am - 4 pm (parking is free on Saturdays)

Take Me Back, is built from memory that explores humanity’s effects physically and psychologically on the environment. Mitchell, uses a diverse amount of drawing materials from graphite and charcoal with various paper types, while also extending to sounds and other multi-media. Hunking, utilizes acrylic, canvas, embroidery and mixed-media, unified with everyday found objects to establish intrigue within abnormal environments. Neglect, limbo, and barren suggest liminal states where identity and history can appear perceptible in the eerie, hidden places evoked by the artwork.

Neurological connections shape mind-body perceptions of reality and become challenged by participation in the artwork. Paganism, deterioration, compulsion, instinctual habits, thoughts, and trepidation to disquietude, ignite the fragile and fragmented nature of existence. This exhibition calls upon emotional sensibilities to demonstrate a reflection on forced isolation and self-isolation.
