FINANCIAL NEWS – OCTOBER 2026

In October our finances were as follows:

Income £1,355.49. This was from our lovely monthly donators, last payment from our dog show silent auction, our pub quiz, shop sales from our lovely friends at Emporium in Lewes and Deco Dogs in Rottingdean and sponsorship for our Santa Paws event (more of that at the bottom of this post).

The rescues we helped in October were:

Villa Vacht Holland, AEZA Portugal, Little Angels Staffy Rescue UK, Dana Geauna Romania, Edina Pasic Bosnia (for Dennis and Benji), Angels Rest Bosnia, ABC Sanctuary UK, Goldra Portugal, Serenity Cat Rescue Portugal, Greek Stray Cats Greece, Arundawn UK, Fedin Bosnia.

This totalled £3095.

Other expenses totalled £321.50. This was £16.50 for printing, £145 to the council for our dog show licence and £160 expenses for our Santa event.

Our Santa Event will be on 6th December at The Plough in Rottingdean. It will be fab fun with the ACTUAL Santa Paws (who will be welcoming both kids and dogs), a winter wonderland, our World Famous Tombola, stalls and a rather fabulous raffle. We would love you to come but if you can’t and if you would like to be involved, we still need bottles for the Tombola. You can also send us twenty quid and a photo of your beloved furry and we will have a wall of images (see example) which will feature your pet. Comment below if you would like to do this.

Our next pub quiz will be in The Plough on 10th November, let me know if you can join us.

Thanks for reading xxx

Most of you will remember little Dennis, the dog in Bosnia who was shot and lost his leg. He is currently in paid foster care in Bosnia, which we are paying for. They have managed to catch Dennis’s best pal Benji who he was on the streets with, so I guess we are paying his foster care too. These little souls need us.

Not quite sure what will happen to them, sadly I have nowhere to put them so can’t bring them over here, they are both just babies. #doingitforthedogs #fundraising #fundraiser by @helpingpaws1

Would your dog or cat like to sponsor our Christmas Grotto fundraiser? For £20 they will feature on a Christmassy poster which will hang in our winter wonderland. We need sponsorship so that we can buy presents for the kids and canines who will visit the grotto. You can pay either by PayPal or bank transfer and we will just need a lovely photo of your pooch or moggy. Comment below if you would like to help. #fundraiser #santasgrotto #christmas by @helpingpaws1

You will all remember the little dog in Bosnia, who we called Dennis. He was shot and had his leg amputated. His is currently in a foster home/hotel which we are paying for. THIS is what your donations do, we paid for all his surgery and vets bills. Here he is with his best pal the cat.

This is what Edina who rescued him says:

Dennis is a completely different dog now. He is no longer scared at all. His private foster is taking such wonderful care of him, and he is playful, happy, loves everyone, and is absolutely hilarious with the cats. He loves children too. He really is such a wonderful, loving boy.
He is still having his wound dressed with Manuka honey because a small part of the wound opened, and we wanted to avoid putting him under anesthesia again. So we’ve been going to the vet for dressings for about 15 days now, but thankfully, everything will be okay.
He is full of love and happiness now, and I’m so grateful to you for helping him and being there for him. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. #doingitforthedogs #bosnianrescuedog #fundraising by @helpingpaws1
