We’re so proud to share that Lila is officially being weaned!This is one of the biggest milestones in any orphan’s journey. It means she’s growing more independent, relying less on us, and taking another important step toward the wild future she was always meant to have.Watching her transform has been nothing short of incredible. The tiny rhino who once arrived scared and unsure is becoming a strong, confident young rhino, and while this chapter is bittersweet for us, it’s exactly what we’ve been working towards all along.Every goodbye to a bottle is another hello to freedom. 💚#EveryRhinoCounts #RhinoOrphan #RhinoRehabilitation #ConservationSuccess #HopeForRhinos by @helpingrhinos

We’ve got a few rescue anniversaries this month - Mulayo, Njabula and Ingelosi, so we’re doing a little Then and Now photo round-up to show you just how far these #rhinoorphans have come. 🎉Swipe through for their stories. ➡️Mulayo when she arrived in 2023 following one of the most distressing rescues for the team. Brave Mulayo had tried to defend her mother from the poachers and was left with open wounds to her neck and ear, ultimately resulting in the removal of her left ear. She has never let her injuries affect her, and was given the name Mulayo, taken from the Zulu word Ekhazimulayo, meaning Radiant. A perfect fit for this courageous young rhino.Mulayo nowNjabula (affectionately known as Jabu) when she arrived in 2025. Jabu had been found wandering alone in the wild, with no sign of her mother. Far too young to be alone she was welcomed into the Zululand Rhino Orphanage and gently introduced to her new rhino family.Njabula nowIngelosi (or Ngelo for short) when she arrived in 2024. Ngelo was found wandering alone in the wild, when approach she spooked and ran back to her mother’s 4-5 day old body. She had been killed by poachers. Little Ngelo was dehydrated and exhausted from her experience and was initially very weary of her carers. Despite her intense fear, she soon showed glimpses of her true nature and was given the name Ingelosi, the Zulu term for Angel. Ingelosi now These three certainly had tough starts in life, but under the expert and dedicated care of our partners The Zululand Rhino Orphanage, they have moved beyond these tragedies and are growing into confident, happy young rhinos.You can play a vital role in their ongoing stories by adopting them (or any of our orphans) via the Adoption Centre linked in our bio and be an essential part of their day to day care. ➡️ #RhinoConservation #Conservation #RhinoFriday by @helpingrhinos
