February Reading Wrap-Up 📚✨

This month’s reading took me through legacy, sisterhood, intrigue, freedom, grief, and the quiet ways we search for ourselves.

Each story held a mirror in a different way. This year I’ve been doing the daily work of choosing softness over survival.

That being said, here’s what stayed with me:

✨ the tension between who we were raised to be and who we’re becoming
✨ how family stories live in the body
✨ the cost of reinvention
✨ the power of leaving — and the power of staying
✨ the reminder that healing is rarely linear

I listened to two of the five and right clicked the other 3. Some were page turners and some asked me to slow down and sit with hard truths.

Reading is one of the ways I regulate. I get to reflect and expand. Reading is part personal and part of my clinical practice. The stories we take in shape the stories we believe about ourselves.

📚✨ This month’s reads took me on a journey! Family Lore by Elizabeth Acevedo brought all the generational drama, while A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams gave me a love story with some serious magic. The Grift by Clay Cane pulled back the curtain on politics, and Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall was a necessary reality check.
Each book made me think, question, and reflect in a new way.

In this season of motherhood I am moving at my pace and doing what feels good for me and my family. I desire to occupy spaces that don’t make me have to choose between time with my baby or time away from my babies. Hello Privilege!! I called it out so you don’t have to 💁🏽‍♀️.
