Swimming for Dolphins 🐬🌊 | THE DOLPHIN SWIM
What if a single swim could help protect something much bigger?

Dolphins live in a world defined by sound.

They rely on it to navigate, communicate, hunt, stay together, and care for their young. As human-generated noise increases, their lives become increasingly difficult.

So, we begin with a simple message:
Swim quietly... and give them space and safety.

"The Dolphin Swim" is an initiative launching from the Red Sea, inviting swimmers and marine life enthusiasts everywhere to turn their swim into a message for dolphin protection.

There is no set distance.
You don’t even have to swim in the open sea.
You can swim in the sea, a pool, or a lagoon.

How can you participate?
🌊 Swim

Because protecting dolphins doesn't always start with a giant leap.
Sometimes, it starts with a single swim.
And one swim leads to the next.

It started in the Red Sea... and is spreading from the Red Sea to the world.

THE DOLPHIN SWIM

The Dolphin Swim

🚨 This is not an adventure. It’s a chase !!

Every day, we continue to receive reports of speedboats chasing dolphins in the Red Sea.

What may look exciting on camera can be extremely stressful and dangerous for these animals. High-speed boats, engine noise, fuel fumes and repeated pursuit can disrupt dolphins, force them away from their habitats, and put both dolphins and people at risk.

Under Egyptian environmental legislation, dolphins and other marine mammals are protected, and prohibited activities can lead to legal action. In protected areas, disturbing or chasing marine life is specifically prohibited.

If dolphins approach your boat, slow down, keep your distance, and let them choose the encounter.

A responsible encounter is one where the animal remains free to swim away. 🌊💙

But can we stop this?
How do you think we can end dolphin chasing in the Red Sea? 👇
Share your ideas with us. Let’s turn awareness into action.

Respect them. Give them space.

Meet the Oceanic Whitetip — a shark built for the open ocean.

Have you ever seen one in the Red Sea?

The Oceanic Whitetip Shark is easy to recognize once you know what to look for: broad, rounded fins with distinctive white markings, a rounded dorsal fin, and long, paddle-like pectoral fins.

But what makes this shark truly remarkable is where it lives.

Unlike many coastal shark species, Oceanic Whitetips are adapted to life in the open ocean, often far from shore. They are powerful travellers of the pelagic world — and seeing one is a reminder of how much life exists beyond the reef.

🇪🇬 Egypt is special.

The Red Sea is one of the places where Oceanic Whitetips can still be encountered, making responsible protection of these waters especially important.

But this species is Critically Endangered.

Their numbers have declined dramatically due to pressures including fishing and the demand for their fins.

Recognizing them is the first step.
Understanding them is the next.
Protecting them is our responsibility.

If you see an Oceanic Whitetip: admire from a respectful distance, never chase or harass it, and help keep its habitat wild.

🌊 Protect the shark. Protect the ocean. Protect the Red Sea.

A brighter future is a choice. Choose sustainability.

Sustainability isn’t one big decision we make someday. It’s the result of the choices we make every day.

How we consume.
How we manage our waste.
How we use our resources.
How we travel.
And how we treat the natural world around us.

For the Red Sea, those choices matter. What we do on land can eventually reach the sea, and the way we interact with marine ecosystems can determine what remains for generations to come. 🌊

At HEPCA, we believe a more sustainable future begins when awareness becomes everyday action.

On Sustainability Day 2026, start with one action today. 💚
Healthier oceans. A brighter tomorrow.

Illegal fish traps. Strictly banned in Egypt, yet some cowards still drop them straight from their boats to slaughter the reef in silence. 🚫🦈

Found two of these recently. Cut the wires, freed the trapped fish, and reported the coordinates to HEPCA to haul the trash out. If they won’t respect the sea, we’ll cut their traps to pieces.

Huge thanks to @divevolk_de and @letonpowerofficial for the gear setup that allowed me to cleanly document this violation. 📱💡🤿

🌍 Tourism That Protects What People Come to See

This World Tourism Day, HEPCA joined Arabia Azur Resort to celebrate the connection between tourism and the environment that makes the Red Sea such an extraordinary destination. 🌊💙

Through an interactive awareness session and environmental activities with the resort’s staff and guests, we explored how simple, responsible choices can help protect our marine ecosystems and preserve the beauty of the Red Sea.

Because sustainable tourism is not only about visiting beautiful places — it is about helping keep them beautiful for generations to come.

A big thank you to the Arabia Azur team and guests for being part of the conversation and the action.

Enjoy the Red Sea. Respect it. Protect it.

The Northern Red Sea stands out. But this is not a reason to relax — it is a reason to protect it.

For the first time, the world’s coral reefs have been assessed under the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems, covering 127 coral reef ecosystems across more than 80 countries and territories.

Among the findings, one message is particularly important for us here in the Red Sea:

🪸 IUCN identifies the Northern Red Sea as a rare bright spot of coral reef resilience.

Based on observed changes over the past 50 years, the Northern Red Sea is classified as Vulnerable, while reefs further south in the region face higher levels of risk. IUCN highlights the Northern Red Sea’s heat-tolerant corals among reef ecosystems that have experienced repeated heatwaves yet have maintained their coral and a healthy mix of corals, algae and fish.

But resilience does not mean immunity.

When projected climate change and future heat stress are taken into account, all four coral reef ecoregions of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden are classified as Critically Endangered.

Globally, the picture is even more urgent: 122 of the 127 assessed coral reef ecosystems — 96% — are classified as Critically Endangered when future risks are included.

The assessment reinforces something fundamental: global climate action is essential, but local protection still matters.

Reducing pollution and other local pressures, protecting resilient reef areas, strengthening marine protection, maintaining healthy fish populations, and continuing scientific monitoring can help give reefs a better chance to withstand and recover from increasing heat stress.

The Northern Red Sea may be one of the world’s coral reef bright spots today.

Our responsibility is to help keep it that way. 🌊💙

World Energy Day | 22 October

The energy choices we make today shape the environment we live in tomorrow.

Energy powers our homes, businesses, cities and economies — but how we produce and use it also has an impact on our planet.

Using energy more efficiently, reducing unnecessary consumption and accelerating the transition toward cleaner energy sources can help reduce environmental pressures and contribute to a more sustainable future. 🌍

For the Red Sea, protecting the future means looking beyond the water. What happens on land, in our cities and through the choices we make every day is connected to the health of our marine environment. 🌊

This World Energy Day, the message is simple:

Use less. Choose better. Protect more. 💚

Because protecting our natural resources starts with how responsibly we use them.

World Food Day: Small actions can shape a healthier future.

To mark World Food Day, HEPCA joined students from Swiss Rahn School for a cleanup activity focused on turning environmental awareness into action.

Together, students stepped outside the classroom to take part in cleaning their surroundings while learning about the connection between our daily choices, waste, food, and the health of our environment.

World Food Day is also an opportunity to think about what we consume, what we waste, and where that waste eventually goes. ♻️

By involving young people in hands-on environmental activities, we’re helping build something that lasts beyond one cleanup: a generation that understands its role in protecting the places we all share. 💚

Thank you to Swiss Rahn School, the students, teachers, and everyone who took part.

Learn today. Act today. Protect tomorrow.
