🍖 See some of the fossil bones of Iowa's Celebrity Dinosaur, “Laura, the Juvenile Duck-billed Dinosaur.”
🥚 See and touch real fossil bones, teeth, claws, and even an egg from a number of different duck-billed dinosaurs including Edmontosaurus, Hypacrosaurus, and Maiasaura.
🦕 Why was this group of dinosaurs so successful that they are called the “cattle of the Cretaceous”?
👑 Many of these "pretty-faced" dinosaurs had elaborate crests on their heads. What were the shapes of these head crests, and what use did they have?
🍴 How did they chew their food, what defenses did they have against predatory dinosaurs, and how did they raise their young?
🤠 Learn about "The Fossil Guy" Don's favorite group of dinosaurs!
Bring your own questions to be answered about these most fabulous of dinosaurs.
Don is an amateur paleontologist from Iowa City, IA with a special interest in fossil vertebrates. His collection of fossils and fossil replicas is one of the largest in Iowa, and he has experience collecting fossils in Iowa and other states out West. Using his self-given nickname "The Fossil Guy," he has taught many educational programs using items from his collection. Don is Executive Director of the Iowa Museum of Paleontology (IMP) – a non-profit with the purpose of establishing exhibits and promoting science education through the wonder of paleontology.
