There’s just something powerful about watching a young man do something hard for the very first time.
This Memorial Day weekend at HBU, these boys broke their first sporting clays, rang steel at long range for the first time, and even connected on targets out to 1,000 yards. You could literally watch confidence grow with every challenge overcome.
Watching young boys ride in the back of a pickup through the Nebraska Sandhills, wind in their face, no phones in their hands, just adventure and freedom in their hearts… it felt like America again.
And this weekend especially, we remember the brave men and women who gave their lives so we could experience freedoms like these. Freedom is never free. 🇺🇸
At HBU, we believe in teaching young men to become capable, confident protectors, providers, and leaders by doing dangerous things carefully and learning responsibility in the outdoors.

We had an absolute blast pushing our physical and mental limits in the Book Cliffs of Utah. No roads. Just mules, hounds, steep cliffs, and long miles—15+ a day. Sleeping under the stars and earning every step.

We treed a beautiful female lion… and chose to pass.

Moments like this are a reminder—being pushed to your edge is a blessing. There’s something real about discomfort. About testing yourself. About finding out what you’re made of.

Grateful for time together. Grateful for the challenge. Grateful for the Creator who made places like this. by @herdbullu

God guides the direction of our lives, but He still calls us to move our hands. Proverbs 16:9 says, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Trust Him with the steering, but show up with obedience, discipline, and faith. Pray like it’s up to God but row like it’s up to you. by @herdbullu
