The Hangout - a pre-designed home plan for those who desire a home they truly love.

This beautiful shot by @emmagrimesphoto was taken in Idaho where our clients built their off-grid Hangout. I’m so happy for this lovely couple! ❤️🏡 by @hereabout_home

Which plan do you think we started out with for this semi-custom project?? Make a guess! 🤩

I was a little nervous about how this design would come together because we were taking a 180 from the original style. I set my nerves aside and it’s coming together really well… I couldn’t be more excited.

I’ll be sharing more about this project in our newsletter this week, so keep your eyes peeled! Not on our mailing list? Comment EMAIL and I’ll get you added ✨🎉

In this iteration of our Home Diaries series, Lindsay and Marc welcome us into their Kinfolk V2 build journey in Michigan. Tucked away on a gorgeous lake about an hour and a half outside of Grand Rapids, their newly completed home will be the base camp for making family memories.

Do you think this home is a stock plan or a custom design? Kind of a trick question, because our stock home plans are designed with the same rigor, intention, and thoughtfulness that we put into a custom design. ✨🏡 Meet The Hangout V4, one of my favorites in our pre-designed home plan collection.
I had the pleasure of visiting our client’s build a few weeks ago. It was so so nice to see everything in real life - from the small tweaks we made together before they broke ground to the finishes and craftsmanship that make the design sing.
Curious to see the floor plan? Comment HOME and I’ll share it with you. ☺️

Broke ground in July and roof ready by mid-October! Tomorrow the windows arrive, and next week the metal roof starts going on. Rough-in should start at the end of the month, so we’ll have HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and AV all happening at the same time. It’s amazing how far we’ve come on this project in such a short span of time. Next thing you know we’ll be moving in! by @hereabout_home

We’ve learned a few things from our clients who’ve been successful in their home builds – and from clients who’ve had road bumps.

Each success story has a few things in common, so we compiled 5 tips to help you find success and avoid certain road bumps in your home building journey, whether you’re just dreaming, starting to plan, or in the middle of your build.

1 - Identify your north stars: Get super clear about your priorities. What’s most important to you? What can you compromise on?

2 - Understand your lot: What are you allowed to build? What are your restrictions? Knowing all of this early on (even before you own the land) will help avoid surprises down the road.

3 - Do an early cost estimate exercise with your builder. Bring in your builder early, teamwork is the dreamwork. Gut checking the cost to build in your local area - for the design you want to build - will help you manage expectations for what’s possible.

Two more tips (and free resources) are waiting for you in the rest of the blog post. >> Link in bio.

Outside <> Inside 🌿☀️
I’m loving these images from our clients home (The Hangout) built in Maine. They worked with their GC to build the home from afar, creating a special space for their family to gather. ❤️

The Nest — our newest home plan, prefab style. Even with a small footprint, The Nest hosts 3 bedrooms, 2-1/2 bathrooms, and a little office adjacent to a flexible loft space (think yoga, play space, reading nook…).

The Nest has been optimized for the @b.publicprefab panel system and has been designed to meet a stricter budget - aiming to make healthy, high performance homes more attainable.
