i really don’t want to take away from the album or turn all of our attention toward driving commercial outcomes. ultimately, not feeling creatively inspired will kill your career the quickest.
but i want to contextualise this. i want to see artists sustain their practice. i think the album, in this day and age, can be an unsustainable endeavour before an artist has the resources to support its creation and release. i think that’s often where burnout begins.

but what about artistic intention over time? i care about that… the capacity for the practice itself to become sustainable.
in the attention economy, i think we need to reframe how we approach this.

Next Thursday, Office Hours is back, and this month we’re doing things a little differently.

No panel this time. Instead, we’re turning all our attention to Simone Ubaldi, co-owner of Sundowner Artists, the team behind Amyl and the Sniffers, Grace Cummings and The Gnomes. Simone has worked as a music journalist, film buyer and author, run The Croxton Bandroom and been named AAM Manager of the Year, so there’s not much she hasn’t seen from every side of the industry.

When you arrive, add your question for Simone on a post-it note to our Office Hours Wall, and we’ll use the wall to guide the conversation: what’s working right now, what’s changed, what to ignore, and how to build a career that lasts. So come prepared with something you’d like to know.

We’ll wrap with open networking. Come to connect, share what you know and help each other out. We’ll be there early and hang around after x

This Friday night (September 11th) we’re holding our next free music panel on the value of community.

Is community really just a stepping stone to a music career, or is it what actually makes survival possible? This panel explores how to find your people, build your own scenes, and create ecosystems where artists thrive together.

We’ll discuss what community actually means in a music career? Is it essential infrastructure for sustainability, or a public good worth building for its own sake? How do you foster genuine support in an industry built on competition?

All of this, and more, on Friday w @jess.f.u @kuyaneil_ @natpavlovic at our home away from home @highnote_____

we’ve been chatting about this to mangers, label owners and artists themselves, all with varying levels of financial success from a life in the arts. there’s been a recent increase in the dialogue around the ‘death of the middle class musician’. we see it in the data, there is some truth around it.

is there something were getting wrong in the pursuit of financial sustainability? is it something we should be chasing at all? and if so, how can we embark on that pursuit better informed?

looking forward to seeing you this Wednesday night. RSVP in bio x

Is there a magic industry middle class? Is it possible to have a career without mainstream success? We’re going to dig deep, with music industry professionals who are navigating these very questions in real time.

What defines a middle-class musician?
What does it take to get there? Is it possible?
How can artists adopt some of the same strategies?
How to invest in your own project and when’s the right time to take a salary?
Is it a good business decision to aim for big growth and expansion through large teams and bigger advances, or is it better to build brick by brick?

We’re looking for people who are interested in how unique ideas travel: subcultures, memes, platform dynamics, and how to get music to the people who’ll value it. It’s for people who are passionate about empowering artists with the tools they need to have sustainable careers in 2026.

If that’s you, send everything below to hello@hereforgoodagency.com

What to send;

1. One short cover letter: why you want this internship, why social as it relates to music promotion interests you
2. Three content examples (links) of artist-made work that kept integrity and reached people.
3. One example of an internet-driven subculture that succeeded due to social media (link + 1-sentence why).
4. One under‑utilised communication or social method musicians could use (example + 1-sentence how to apply).
5. One insight about social media you may not think we’ve thought about.
6. Links to any relevant work you created (photos, videos, IG pages, blogs, mock campaigns).
7. Don’t include unrelated resumes, tell us where you are now.

Successful applicant will be notified June 26th. by @hereforgoodagency

sometimes I think a good practice would be to remove the reliance on all of our traditional marketing strategies to look deeply at how we’re telling the stories of our records. there’s often so much left unsaid in album rollout, and I wonder, could we spend more time contextualising, adding shade and connecting with people instead of leaning on the tried and true tactics. it simply takes more time, and effort, and time. But it’s also, inherently, more creative. And isn’t that why we do this? by @hereforgoodagency
