Introducing Herella Design, our new name and the clearest expression of what our work has become.

After nearly eight years of building Vine & Oak, we found ourselves in a season of reflection. Growth has a way of clarifying what matters. It asks you to look at what you have created with gratitude and then gently question whether it still represents who you are becoming.

Vine & Oak shaped us. It carried our early ambition, our creative risks, and the foundation of what we now know to be true about ourselves. Letting go of that name felt less like an ending and more like watching something you raised step confidently into its own life. Emotional, yes. But undeniably right.

At our core, nothing fundamental has shifted. We have always believed design is not simply what we do, but who we are. It informs how we see, how we build, how we serve. Our commitment remains the same. Every client should feel deeply heard. Every experience should feel intentional. Every detail should work in harmony with the next.

This is not a departure, it is a refinement.

Three years ago, the Philadelphia wedding market needed a reason to believe in itself. Last week, 350+ industry friends from a dozen states gathered in a structure that didn’t exist three months ago, in a venue that had never been tented before, to celebrate what Philly’s become.

The third @wipaphiladelphia Gala made you stop mid-room and just look. Liz of @elizabethmargaretevents, Mikyla of @inkandpressco, and their design and production partners with the WIPA team built something genuinely transportive - huge custom fabrications, dramatic florals, ethereal atmosphere, immersive performances.

But beyond the design, this was a celebration by and for the people who built the modern Philadelphia wedding market together. Sponsors and vendors poured tens - sometimes hundreds - of thousands of dollars and countless hours into a production that introduced the Philadelphia Horticultural Center’s first-ever tented structure to the world. Over 100 of those 350+ attendees flew in from out of state to be in the room.

The reason for Philly to believe in itself wasn’t singular: it was this community.

There are hundreds of decisions that happen before this moment.

The floor plans. The flowers. The paper. The lighting. The things we changed, reconsidered, built, moved and obsessed over until the room felt exactly right.

And then the doors open.

For the first time, our couple gets to see the celebration we have been seeing in pieces for months, finally existing all at once.

For one night, Fairmount Water Works became Hotel Finnegan Philadelphia.

Guests checked in at the front desk, received a welcome envelope and keycard, and learned which Hotel Finnegan destination they would be visiting for dinner.

Each destination represented a place meaningful to the couple. At their seats, guests found that location illustrated across their menu, finished with a custom Finnegan wax seal.

The concept continued through the smallest details, including chilled cucumber and green tea towels served during cocktail hour on an exceptionally hot day.

This was never about adding hotel references simply because they fit the theme. It was about creating the feeling of being welcomed, cared for and transported somewhere else for the evening.
