He hadn't seen her in years.

Didn't know what she looked like anymore.
And still carved her name into his body.

Yeah. I had thoughts. 🫠

I loved the obsession in this book, but what genuinely surprised me was the hellebore.

It wasn't just a flower. It carried trauma, happiness, sorrow, memory and obsession throughout the story, and I loved how beautifully the author used it to make the emotions feel tangible.

And the characters?? Especially those two friends of the twins.
AUTHOR. I NEED THEIR BOOKS.

And her? Soft, vulnerable, but never weak. Watching her learn to survive without losing that softness was one of my favourite parts.

And somehow the thing that destroyed me most wasn't the mythology.
It was the yearning. 🖤

He was a god. He could have taken her.
Instead, he waited.
Every. Single. Time.
And that consent?
Real men take notes. 😭

But I also loved her. She carried that hollow feeling for years, struggled to express herself, isolated herself, and still kept trying to build a life she wanted.
She wasn't fearless.
She just kept going.

And the atmosphere??? Dreamlike, haunting and completely immersive.

She ran from the past. The past found her. 🖤

What surprised me most about this book was the FMC.

She wasn't just part of the story, she was the story.
The stubbornness. The fire. That spark. The way she refused to become the woman everyone expected her to be.

And then there was the secret society, her brother's hidden life, the mystery, the relationships...
And the SPICE.
My lord. 😭🌶️

My only issue was a slight drag in the middle, but overall this was a 4★ read that genuinely stayed with me.

The crown never owned her.

Would you run from a kingdom that suffocated you if it meant discovering who you really were? 👀
