If you have lived through abuse, trauma or survival mode, financial independence often starts to mean something much deeper than money alone.

Because trauma does not just shape emotions.
It shapes behaviour.
It shapes nervous systems.
It shapes the way you learn to survive.
It shapes your relationship with yourself.
It shapes your relationship with money.

Many women who have experienced instability, control or abuse learn to become hyper-independent, hyper-aware and emotionally self-reliant long before they ever learn what safety feels like.

And over time, survival mode can start shaping everything:
how you rest,
how much you carry,
how safe you feel,
what you tolerate,
and even your relationship with money and independence.

This is why financial independence can feel so deeply emotional for women who are healing.

Not because it is about status or luxury.

But because for many women, it represents something far more powerful:
safety,
choice,
freedom,
and the ability to finally build a life that no longer revolves around survival.

A little reflection on where this space is heading.

This page originally started as a business account. But over time, I realised it was becoming something much more meaningful to me.

Much of my work has been in women’s rights, gender equality, and women’s economic empowerment — including working with the United Nations in behavioural science and development spaces.

But the work that has always meant the most to me is supporting women who are rebuilding their lives.

Because life doesn’t always unfold the way we imagined. Sometimes we find ourselves starting again — rebuilding, healing, and discovering strength we didn’t know we had.

This space will focus on healing, mindset growth, and building independence — including financial independence.

Because financial independence isn’t just about money. It can open doors to safety, stability, and the ability to create life on your own terms — so that if you ever need to make a different choice for yourself, you have the freedom to do so.

If you’re in a season of rebuilding, you’re not alone 🤍🙌🏽
