Heritage Coexistence Part 4: From Metamorphika to Hackney took place on 27 June as part of @londonfestivalofarchitecture 2026.

This edition explored the festival’s theme of Belonging through conversations, a visual and sound installation, and a social gathering. The space of @metamorphika.studio became the point where the inside went out, and the outside came in, focusing on heritage and belonging in Hackney and creating a real sense of community.

Thank you to everyone who made it happen:

@isabellabarkett , for co-curating and co-organising this with so much dedication. Simon Ballester and the Metamorphika team, for the space, the energy, and everything in between.

Thanks to our speakers: Ed Hollis, Simon Ballester, Katmovser, Nina Jang, Colin Priest, and Cynthia Gilbert, for your stories, your generosity, and for showing up.

And to Anton Spice, Marvin Gerrald, and Katmovser, for the sound piece, visual installation, and for bringing traces of Hackney’s contested spaces into the room through critical reflections on gentrification and preservation activism.

To everyone who came: thank you for being part of and creating the special community of Heritage Coexistence across Naarm/ Melbourne, Milan, and now London too!

The walls of @metamorphika.studio hold traces of what came before: a ruin, a print shop, a space in-between.

This Saturday, on June 27, Heritage Coexistence Part 4 takes this palimpsest condition as its starting point: moving from the gallery outward into Hackney, where belonging, heritage, and gentrification are negotiated in real time.

Two roundtable conversations. A spatial installation. An open bar.

With @tersatto, Simon Ballester, @katmovser, @t_wickers , Nina Jang, @don.travis1, Cynthia Gilbert, @anton.spice , @marvingerrald
