Diego has brought so much join into my life from the moment I picked him up at SFACC and brought him to Muttville. He’s such a love. He must’ve had a very rough background because he was terrified of being touched or being picked up. Now he’ll come in and lean in for neck, scratches and ear rubs, and he loves to have his tummy rubbed. Love is very powerful. taken in Muttville Senior Dog Rescue by @hermeshounds

#Sampson and I have been good friends from the get go. It only took him about a day before he started giving me the squinty eyes of love. But his sister, #Nala, a former feral, has been petrified of me and has been hiding in her safe room for over a week now. She was eating and using the litter box so she’s OK and I’m certainly not gonna force myself on her. Today, I think she realized that I’m OK. When I entered the room, she didn’t bolt. She just looked at me. I went outside and saw that she was also continuing to look at me through the window. It’s a very strange experience for me to not have every animal I meet fall in love with me at first sight. It’s good to have an ego check every so often. I am currently sitting two cats. One of them is highly fearful, and had only made a couple of appearances. Sampson, the polydactyly with baseball mitt size to paws, we’ve made friends. He slept pressed into me last night. Nala, the very shy girl, has been hiding. I am absolutely letting her go at her own pace and she has a room where she can hang out where she feels safe. I’ve been feeding her in there, and she will eat overnight and she ate this morning if I closed the door to that room. She is using the litter box regularly. That’s just about on track for what I should be doing with this sweet girl. I’m hoping that I can be friends with her soon. Again, at her pace.
