To the little boy who made me a mother, you are my brightest star in the sky. Getting to know the person you’re becoming is wildly beautiful, amazing, exhausting, challenging, and oh so fun!

I remember the day they handed you to me in the hospital after 18 hours of labor and a failed epidural and said, “Here you go — have fun being a mom!” I remember thinking, “How the heck do I know what he needs? How do I keep him entertained?” I remember the first day I took you out on my own, thinking, “What if he cries and I can’t fix it?”

Somehow, little by little, I started to learn you and truly know you. I learned that sometimes all you wanted was a cuddle or for me to sing to you. I learned that not everything has to be fixed, and that being present is worth more to you than anything else in the world.

So incredibly thankful that there is a day to celebrate the incredible thing that is motherhood, but also to the beautiful babies who make us mothers 🤍 by @hernamescara

Wow who knew that 30 would look so vivid and dreamy. Who knew that starting a family would be exhausting but the greatest accomplishment. Who knew that parenthood with the right person could be the wildest adventure filled with many long nights dreaming of what our family will one day look like, who our kids will become, and how, despite all the exhaustion, we would not trade a single moment. I love this season and I do in fact feel “30, flirty, and thriving” ✨

P.S. I’m so incredibly grateful to the friends and family who pause their lives to come and celebrate my birthday with me. And thank you to the most amazing, kind, intentional husband that plans it all and makes sure every single detail is absolutely perfect 🤍 taken in Carmel by the Sea by @hernamescara

Meet little bean Gabriel Elias Stephenson-Torres 🐣

It’s true what they say about having a baby, your heart grows and you feel like you were made for this moment. Gabriel came into the world on Saturday night at 18:40 weighing 8lb 9 oz. From the moment we held him we knew there was never a gift more perfect that God could have given us. Getting to know him the past few days have been the most beautiful and surreal. Someone once said that stepping into parenthood was dying to your old self so your new self can be reborn, possibly the hardest yet most rewarding thing you could ever do. Becoming a parent is experiencing God’s heart in a new way for the first time. Our hearts have never been more full of gratitude for our beloved son and we can’t wait to get to know you more everyday Gabriel. by @hernamescara

9 months of carrying little bean and I can’t help but see God in every single moment. It’s the hardest yet most rewarding thing your body, heart, soul, and mind could ever go through. And here we are, just days away from meeting him.

I always knew I wanted to be a mother one day but was terrified I’d never be fully ready for it until now. I think God allows us to carry our children for the 9 months to prepare us for the awakening that happens at birth. You die to your old self and a new one awakens, mirrored in the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross. I’ve never felt closer to God than in the moments that I had to be broken the past 9 months - and trust me there were many.

So here’s to the mothers that show us what it means to love and be loved, and the fathers that help carry our weight when we can’t do it on our own. Seeing your husband step into fatherhood is one of the most beautiful things I think I will ever witness and I can’t wait for all the moments of beauty still to come ✨

P.S. so incredibly thankful for this season where I get to be close to my mother again as I step into this next chapter of my life. I could literally cry at how happy and grateful I am that God brought us back to our promised land that is the pine trees of Northern California 🌲 by @hernamescara
