At Hers, we’re on a mission to treat women better. And we can’t do that alone.

To help shape the future of women's health in Australia, we’ve brought together the Hers Women’s Health Advisory Panel.

They're Aussie icons who are advising us from both a clinical and community perspective — and we've kicked things off with a roundtable conversation that’s long overdue.

Introducing four extraordinary women who have changed the game for women in Australia:

Dr Jana Pittman, dual Olympian and medical doctor,
Dr Gina Cleo, dietitian and habit expert,
Leisel Jones, Olympic gold medallist and media commentator, and
Cathy Freeman, Olympic gold medallist and philanthropist.

Between them: numerous Olympic medals and world championships, medical degrees and PhDs, and decades of experience in their respective fields.

They are women who have led the way for others in sport, science and public life. And still, they’re asking the same questions about their health as the rest of us.

In this roundtable, they get honest about their own experiences and what a healthcare system that actually works for women should look like.

They’ve partnered with Hers to help shape the future of women’s health in Australia and make sure every woman gets the care she deserves.

When I was competing, fitness was my whole identity.

Retiring was hard — and when my body stopped responding the way it always had, no matter how hard I restricted or trained, I felt completely stuck.

I kept pushing and saw nothing change, and then I turned that frustration inward. I thought I was being lazy.

What I was missing wasn't effort. It was understanding. Having the full picture of what's actually going on in your body changes everything.

That's exactly why I'm so excited to be joining Hers. Stay tuned for more.

Do you have any stories from when you’ve felt dismissed or found it hard to be heard?

When we sat down with Leisel Jones, Cathy Freeman, Dr Gina Cleo and Dr Jana Pittman, that’s where the conversation started. It went deeper than we expected, and it reminded us how powerful it is to speak up, even when it’s hard.

We’d love to hear your story in the comments. Your voice matters, and you’re not the only one. đŸ©”

In perimenopause, so many women say the same thing: “I don’t feel like myself anymore.”

They’re doing exactly what worked in their 20s and 30s, and the scales aren’t moving.

Then the self-blame kicks in: if it’s not working, it must be my fault.

It’s not. This is a much bigger conversation than willpower; it’s about biology.

I lived on the other side of this for 30 years in sport. The constant food noise. The all-in, then “why bother?” cycle. It’s far more common than people admit.

If the voice has been loud lately, it’s worth questioning where it came from, and worth having the conversation with a doctor about what might be the right next steps for you.

Health doesn't happen in the appointment. It happens in the moments between, like when you have a question at 11pm and there's no one to ask.
