POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
This weekend Mickey ( @carrytrainer ) and I took our new little coffee trailer across the country to support some people we love, our friends. The journey took us to the outstanding #revolverfest event in South Carolina. As we walked from bay to bay with coffee for the instructors and video equipment, I was reminded of why I love taking in new information, trying new things, and surrounding myself with people who challenge possibilities.

Watching this man shoot is a reminder that we can spend a lot of time focusing on what makes something difficult or we can over focus on what it takes to do it.
Hard things look different for everyone. Sometimes the challenge is physical. Sometimes it’s mental. Sometimes it’s starting over, trying something unfamiliar, or being willing to look a little foolish while you learn. Who cares.

Here's the thing, you don't grow by only doing what you're already comfortable doing.

I'm not interested in living a life dictated by my comfort zone. I want to keep learning, keep pushing, keep exploring, and keep discovering what I'm capable of.

We don't get unlimited time here. Do the hard thing. Take the class. Learn the skill. Challenge the assumption. Try something that scares you a little.
Don't wait until life gets easier to start living bigger.
Your circumstances may shape your path, but they don't have to define your potential.

What you carry for self defense should never be random, it should be intentional.
Your lifestyle, your environment, your responsibilities, they all matter.

The right tools for you are the ones you can carry consistently, access quickly, and use confidently under stress.

Training is the glue!
Train hard to protect yourself and the ones you love.

How are you being intentional with your edc? by @herselfreliance

You don’t rise to the occasion.
You fall to the level of your training.

When things go sideways, there’s no time to think through the basics. Your body will return to what you’ve practiced or what you’ve neglected.
That includes the gear you choose and the fitness and mindset that you've built.

As Mickey @carrytrainer states,
Is it repeatable?
Is it reliable?
Is it robust?

Accuracy isn’t luck.
Control isn’t luck.
Confidence isn’t luck.
All those things are built with consistently and discipline.

Let's train!

Let’s be clear.
If violence is forced on you,
you have the right to end it immediately.
Not manage it.
Not negotiate with it.
Not hope it stops.
Not wait for help.
End it.

It’s about one thing:
Refusing to be a victim. You need to purpose in your heart that you will continue to be as you are.

When a real threat shows up, your willingness to act in that moment matters.
Violence doesn’t reward hesitation, it exploits it.
The ability to act decisively under pressure
is not something you rise to, it’s something you train for.

You accept ahead of time that if a line is crossed,
you will act to protect life, yours, or someone else’s.

That's prudence and responsibility.
Train accordingly. by @herselfreliance

You don’t rise to the occasion in an emergency, you fall to your level of training.

When it comes to severe bleeding, seconds matter. Not minutes. Not hours. Not “until help arrives.” Seconds.

Knowing how to Stop the Bleed means you’re not standing by helpless. You’re the person who steps in, takes control, and changes the outcome. You could even save your own life.

Because the truth is, the difference between life and death is often the person standing closest to you.

Be that capable person.

Learn it, Train it.
Someone’s worst day could become their second chance because of you. by @herselfreliance

Before we debate solutions, we should be willing to examine realities.

What happens when a woman cannot create distance, cannot access protection, or cannot leave when it matters most?

Did you know
• 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence or abuse from an intimate partner.
• From 2001–2012, 6,488 American troops were killed in Afghanistan and Iraq. In that same timeframe, 11,766 American women were killed by current or former male partners.
These are not political talking points. They are reality, they are patterns.
And patterns deserve honest analysis.

Safety, real safety, is rarely defined by a single policy or perspective. It is defined by time, proximity, capability, and the ability to act under pressure. In critical moments, outcomes are shaped by what options are immediately available… and what options are not.
If we are serious about protecting women, then the conversation must stay anchored in reality, not preference.
Understanding risk is not fear-based.
It is responsibility.
