We always lose our papaya trees during Houston's winter freeze snap. Has anyone successfully grown papayas in Houston? How did you keep them from dying during our cold weather? #papayas #zone9b #houstontx #gardening #hershegarden taken in Houston, Texas by @hershegarden

Great turn out on Saturday for our first soil symposium where we brought residents, high school students, undergraduate students, graduate students, an epidemiologist, an environmental scientist, an environmental engineer, a farmer, community advocates and Fifth Ward gardeners together to discuss our current soil health and ways to improve it. Good synergy in the room looking forward to advancing the conversation.#5thward #healthycommunity #healthycommunity #soil #houstontx taken in Houston, Texas by @hershegarden
