SUNFLOWER JACKET ||

Aka, how a sunshine lover manages the colder months. When I saw this quilting cotton I knew I needed to make myself a jacket out of it. To be honest it isn't all that warm for the deepest cold of NY winters, but it was a good starter jacket for the beginning of the colder months, and can be layered to make it warmer. I also made it well oversized, which when I feel motivated to get my unstiching pick and redo this jacket, I might make it a bit smaller and add some more filler to puff it up.
I made this jacket fully reversible, but you know what side I'd be wearing it on ✨

Pattern: a mix of a @mcallspatterncompany pattern and some hacking and self drafting.

Some snippets of the last two years (of mostly silence on the grids, life has felt full and beautiful and confusing and all the things that I considered writing about but ultimately deciding I started this to share sewing and crafty stuffs and would like to post let keep it that way.)

Dress in first picture is a honey girl dress in a rib knit , @paradisepatterns @lyricalfabrics

And the photos that look extra beautiful are by the talented @karleerosephoto 100/10 recommend if you are in the Lancaster or surrounding areas.

Oh and the little matching jackets my kids wore to almost shreds this past winter I made as well, maybe another post at some point:) by @hersocalled

The Lala skirt just hit the market 💃🏽

Been an absolute pleasure pattern testing this skirt, it comes together beautifully and rather quickly and the options for creativity are endless. Can’t wait to follow your journey @studioneeela and congratulations on your first wonderful and super wearable pattern!

Tshirt is a pointelle @paradisepatterns @lyricalfabrics Honeygirl tshirt, the neckline in between the high and low neckline, in a pointelle cotton from @saltlakesewciety

Ps it’s been a while since I last posted any makes, although I’ve been making a whole bunch. Maybe I’ll post a little about where I’ve been, although the longer I was away, the harder the thought of posting again became, it feels so foreign, and the algorithm is going to be fun, but here we are, because after all, it really is just all for fun.

The Garden Dress 🌿🌸

Happy release day to this pattern by @fruxstudio.
I had this fabric sat in my sewing room for a while and the name of this pattern inspired me to make a true garden 🪴 themed dress. I also had a lot of it but I did still end up going to pick up more to have enough for the dress but it all came together.
I shortened the sleeve pattern but I do believe that’s now an option in the instructions booklet if you’d like to do the same:)

The MADE-line Tee release day, (alongside three other lovely patterns deff worth having a look at!)
In honor of which I’m also finally posting my second Zamora skirt that I made last summer (posted in the second picture in a eyelet cotton gauze from @joann_stores ) that I pull out a lot. The job of cotton gauze being that it has full permission to be wrinkly 😅

I love the fit of the Madeline Tee, the short boxy fit and the big hems. I had a slight trouble getting my neckline flat but that’s me needing to work out my stretch stitches! This version is in a French terry by @iseefabric and I have also made another since in an cotton Pointelle with a hacked neckline which I adore too!

My autumn / winter staples.
1) my #flirtskirt pattern by @bygraciesteel of which I’ve made multiple although this is the first that made it to the grid. This was my first Jean version but I made another Jean version since with a stretch Jean which I wear even more.
2) #jadawraptop pattern by @isainstitches and fabric from @joann_stores
I’ve also created many of these and this being the first to the grid but this is definitely my most worn one!
3) a vest jacket which I self drafted off an existing jacket I own, with a collar and ruffles - pattern by @tillybuttons. I absolutely adore the jacket and wore it way more than I would have anticipated.

The Shirred Shirley Dress ✨

The beautiful, classy, classic with a twist dress. It can be plain and classic or fun and sweet depending on the view / fabric combination and I adore the gorgeous versions I have seen from the other testers, each so unique and with its own character. (And am eagerly waiting to see all the beautiful makes that are about to be made!)
@bygraciesteel is the most incredible pattern wizard and I was so grateful to be able to test this pattern and be involved with watching the process of a pattern being fine tuned and experimented with. Although it wasn’t my first time on a tester group, I am fascinated again every time by the patience and dedication it takes to make patterns.
And here she is in all her glory.

I hacked the pattern to add on sleeves, added a trim to the waistline and obvs some little bows.
Now I need to make another #shirleyshirreddress that I don’t feel super extra in, for going out in and doing errands on the daily. I have a whole Pinterest board of inspiration, and I’m very much looking forward 🥰

Raida ✨

Raida dress (blouse hacked into dress in this case, with some pin ticks at the bottom) in a cotton checked fabric ✨
Since being sewn she’s travelled a fair amount and has had a couple of day trips, including Atlanta where a girl told me she liked my dress and that it look ‘vintagey’ which I’ll gladly take 🫶🏻

Ps thanks to my hubby for taking pictures of me even though I move so fast and don’t stand still bc what are you meant to do with your hands - cue me mid movement pics with my hands in random places 😅
