Lovely snow day in the city and day off! Ben got to join me at lunchtime outside. It was so wonderful to take in the stillness of the city under a fresh cover of snow. Also got to enjoy some cozy time back home with Finn. ❄️⛄️ taken in Inwood by @hertaps

Today was probably one of the most difficult days I have endured. I had to say goodbye to the love of my life Marcel- he was my everything- emotional support fur best friend, the most amazing lap cat, zoom/teams super star, my daily joy and aptly as I always joked- the longest relationship I have ever had - he was 12 year old. We have been diligently trying to fight what started last Fall as rhinitis- turned out that the cause was a tumor in his brain - probably cancer - so many tests and medication, vet visits. Last week was a turning point- he became blind -His rapid weight loss followed by his inability to eat on his own or keep it down brought the situation to a whole new level. The last few days compounded by the visible pain and confusion in his body as he bumped into walls and trapped himself facing corners, lead us here. I saw my beautiful boy who was strong and happy at 16 lbs at his peak waste away to a frail 7lbs despite all our great efforts - despite not purring for months - he tried and he fought hard as well, even as I cried on him begging him for a glimmer of hope- which he always obliged- he would perk up and try to eat- or stand- look mom I’m going to be ok. His latest suffering was too great - I will cherish him forever- he was the best cat in the world and am sad for Gustav- the little brother I got for him 8 years ago because he was so social and loved other cats. For now, my sweet Marcel, I will imagine you frolicking with all the beautiful creatures of my past, June, Kiki, Poe, Franz and Dante. You were the best and I will love you till eternity. Rest in peace my beautiful soul- I hope to see you on the other side if I’m lucky. @marcel.gustav.cats taken in Inwood by @hertaps
