POSTS STORIES REELS

First post in 5 years, to share a love letter w/ the ending of summer 💌 (last slide)

2.22.26 The end of August marks six months since the passing of my beautiful boy, Riley. I remember the day we met at the rescue, watching him paw at the window, ready to come home. That was the day I learned home is never just a place, it’s a feeling, it’s the very things we hold dear that can never leave our hearts. Riley became my home.

When his time came, we sat on the deck at sunset, where a honey bee, in winter, visited us, landing on Riley and staying with him. I melted, finding out a bee during death is a final goodbye from a loved one, as the bees carry the souls of the departed. That was just like Riley, giving an epic sign in his wake, and every day he gives me more.

They say when you love something let it go, but love has a funny way of always returning. The ones we lose are never really lost, they’re with us, in the love they continue to surround us with. I felt this at Riley’s celebration of life, filled with flowers, friends, and a day as beautiful as him. His love is what led me to graduate with my master’s in MFT this summer, working as a grief therapist in hospice, where I’ve learned so much about the beauty of being alive. And how death, yet tragic, makes our lives that much more beautiful.

He also brought me love through the amazing friends, family who made turning 30 more special than I imagined. I was blessed receiving my first tattoos in his honor that day, like his paw print, inspiring me to put pen to paper, to share stories that bring others hope. He brings me that, knowing he’s there to greet others crossing the rainbow bridge, like our dog Jasper and cat Kasey, who also passed peacefully this year.

We say ‘grief is love with nowhere to go,’ but I think grief is love finding its place, in where we choose to be and who we choose to become. Grief is love existing beyond time.

So here’s to a year of grief, a year of meaning, of moments worth celebrating, and reminders that life is truly worth living. That the ones we love are forever with us, just like my Riley.

And if you see a honey bee, know it’s my beautiful boy, saying hello again. 💛🐝🫶🏼 by @heruninterrupted

Costa Rica Series 🇨🇷

This was one of the most incredible shoots I had ever experienced in college. At the time I only had $500 left in my bank account and still made it through two more weeks of shooting. I would say this was the very first trip that made me fall completely in love with both travel and film 🎥

Here’s an exert pulled from my journal while traveling through Monteverde Cloud Forest:

“Monteverde gave me everything. It gave me beauty, authenticity, culture, and love. I embraced the village and it embraced me, and for that my heart will always lie within the cloud forest of Monteverde.” by @heruninterrupted

I’ve struggled my entire life in understanding what healthy love means, what it looks like and what it feels like. Being raised in an environment that lacked emotion, empathy and safety it was always easy to involve myself with those that repeated the patterns I experienced as a child. It’s taken a long time for me to realize what a healthy love really looks like and even now I’m still learning. We all are deserving of experiences that stimulate our growth and the love we have for ourselves. You deserve a healthy love ALWAYS ! Repeat that, love should never leave you questioning yourself or your reality when you are voicing concerns of the treatment you are receiving. These were 7 important emotional abuse terms I had to learn to understand ways in which I was mistreated and/or silenced:

Lovebombing

Showering you with extreme amounts of love in the beginning to make you feel like you are soul-mates. Inducing you to become attached more quickly.

Stonewalling

Ignoring you completely. Refusing to speak to you in light of you voicing your concerns, emotionally making you feel as if you can not speak or breathe.

Cutting Off Support

Finding reasons for you to distance yourself from friends and family. Begins with reasons they believe your support system is unhealthy for you and slowly evolves to reasons they don’t like your ecosystem.

Triangulation

Manipulating you to believe others are a threat by turning one on one conflicts into two on one conflicts, leaving you feeling overruled.

Gaslighting

Using language to make you question your concerns and perception of reality through countering your feelings, withholding, trivializing, denying, diverting, and stereotyping.

Devaluation

Using commentary with the purpose of subtly putting you down, critiquing and/or insulting you, your values and your choices.

Projection

Accusing you of committing the action they just committed.

If you are experiencing any of these terms please know healthy love exists and this is not it. Feel free to reach out to me if you need to speak with someone or feel heard. ❤️ by @heruninterrupted

Manifesting

You may just be starting to find who you are, but please more than ever never forget to lean on those that bring you closer to happiness. Those that remind you what self love truly means. Those that make you smile even through all the tears. From time to time you may drift away and hide behind fears, ambivalent emotions, work, people, just remember this is all natural.

But let places like this, amazing gifts of nature’s creation; places that didn’t ask how they should be or look that millions come to see, be a reminder that you always have a right to being true to who you are. You will always have a chance to be better, to be who you want to be for yourself, for others and to live free from your fears. Because if anyone can truly change your life it’s you. Hi hello @tanazapf’s birthday is here

Happy birthday to the girl who is always the life of the party 🎈

I met tana banana in my first music producing class at SDSU. I barely had any girl friends at the time, and was going through an extremely rough ex relationship. As the only other girl in our music class and stoked to meet other artists, I decided to introduce myself and of course we immediately hit it off.

Later she went with me to Starbucks (something I usually did alone), and I had her try my favorite secret menu drink. I wished her well and we both went on our way. That first year I tended to walk into classes with my head down, headphones in and music blasting, drowning out the noise of the outside world. But this time I was excited to head back to my favorite class and possibly create art with my new friend. As I walked back into class late as always, I noticed an empty desk with my favorite secret drink on it & a bubbly girl holding the same one too, waiting for me.

I will never forget that cheesy moment, because without realizing it this stranger brought a glimpse of light into my life, light that I hadn’t seen in a while. I will always share that story because it truly goes to show anyone that even the smallest acts of kindness can change someone’s whole world.

I love you best friend & I hope you have an incredible day. by @heruninterrupted

I think it’s amazing. I think it’s amazing that even with life’s messiness you wake up every morning ready for the never ending journey of getting to know yourself again and again. I think it’s amazing that you are taking the time to find who you are, to be who you are, to be the person you want to become. I think it’s amazing that even in the face of pain, you know that in choosing to see life as black and white, you’ll miss out in seeing the beauty of all the colors in between.

You may just be starting to find who you are, but I encourage you to never forget to lean on those that bring you that much closer to happiness. Those that make you smile through all the tears. Those that remind you what self love truly means. And those that also remind you, you are amazing.

Life really is made up of so many beautiful colors, and I think it’s amazing you choose to experience that everyday.

ps. tagged a few of you angels that have recently reminded me of what self love looks like 🦋 by @heruninterrupted
