At Egypt’s first music summit, @ch4plus , underground artist @heshamhub premiered his newly released track ‘Dabsh’. The track explores a kind of stubborn, defensive bravado and acting on intrusive thoughts when facing someone with more power or leverage.

Sampling a scene from the 2008 Palestinian film “Pomegranates and Myrrh,” the track moves through distorted bass, fragmented neuro-influenced drums, industrial textures, and dark ambient layers. It was performed as part of a short set built around imbalance, frustration, and the uncertainty of the unknown, opening Warra El Mazzika’s stage on the summit’s second day through an artist open call showcasing different sounds from across the region. by @heshamhub

@SceneNoise #NoiseSets: This week on SceneNoise’s Select mix series, He/Sham, an emerging DJ in Cairo’s ever-growing underground clubbing scene, steps into the spotlight. He takes us on a trippy, intense ride through percussive bass, featuring deconstructed club textures and electro shaabi cuts with hints of psychedelic undertones. The mix folds in some of the region’s most left-field selections, including Hassan Abou Alam’s ‘Te3ebt’ and 3phaz’s remix of 'Etoy’. One moment, it feels like a chaotic left-field rave; the next, it shifts into the depths of an underground club in Bristol.

We missed being on air 🌸

One of our favorite things about the biweekly broadcast is knowing there’s a little space between each one enough time to miss the radio, get curious, and come back together for another night of listening.

So tomorrow, we’re back with some really beautiful sounds.

We’re starting with @d.emiana a violinist, music teacher, radio host, and seriously talented artist. We’re really proud and happy to have her curate a journey for Ward, moving through moody, atmospheric, and sometimes avant-garde sounds, rhythmic storytelling, and eventually joyful melodies. A mix that refuses to stay in one time, place, or style.

And because apparently we couldn’t get enough of @dob3i and @heshamhub at our latest event, they’re back on the airwaves with exclusive frequencies for Ward.
Then Magda takes us somewhere softer with an ambient, dreamy selection of some of her favorite sounds.

And to close the night, Our longtime supporter @amrozidanofficial also joins us with Matter and Air, an experimental, improvisational live set exploring sound, movement, meaning, and real-time experimentation. The project is based on the live performance developed through Tawreet, a performance project co-founded by Amro Zidan and @zeyadadris .
Only a few people have had the chance to experience it live, and now it’s finding its way to the radio.

Tune in tomorrow at 8 PM Egypt time, hang around, and enjoy. 🌸📻 taken in Alexandria, Egypt by @heshamhub

@heshamhub has been in our corner since the early days of Ward, so getting him behind the decks for our first event in Alexandria just feels right.

For his first time playing in our hometown, we’re handing him the controls and letting him do his thing.

DJ, producer, music journalist, and professional collector of weird noises, HE/SHAM has a habit of turning whatever catches his ear into something else. Cairo traffic, blown-out screeches, bedroom experiments, sounds that probably weren’t meant to be musical in the first place but somehow, they all find their way into his world.

We’re very happy to finally have him with us.

Cairo 🤝 Alexandria. See you on the 22nd. 🌸 taken in Alexandria, Egypt by @heshamhub
