A Peculiar Inheritance: the 91st Annual Waa-Mu Show

I love my musical. I love my musical. I love my musical. I loved designing this new work musical with my whole heart. It was a kitschy, challenging nightmare where my scenery deadlines were due when I had the book and only a few songs. Then after the fact, nearly the whole book changed but I adore this show.

Designing this show made me love new work when the script at one point had a joke about my set in it and the way I framed the space lead to how the final piece in the mystery was unveiled.

Still unbelievably grateful I got the opportunity to design for this piece of NU's history.

Love and War; Excerpts from Monteverdi's Eighth Book of Madrigals

Summer is over but never too late to share highlights! One of the most incredible parts of my summer at Glimmerglass was getting to design for this piece. It was so fantastic to be able to build a world for Eric's choreography, and to work with such a fantastic group of opera singers. (Not to mention the amazing collaboration I had with ATD Kyle and Scenic Artist Carleigh to make my dreams possible.)

As someone whose formative years were spent in IL9 this election matters a lot to me.

I wanted to use my art highlight multiple candidates that are fighting to keep this community safe since most of my friends and family are only getting a colorful comic in their mailbox from one candidate.

The Illinois Primary is on March 17th. Your vote matters. Especially if you are in a progressive district your vote is how you show your values.

Finally posting my second show from Hanger last summer. Juxtaposing the 40's Broadway Ducks was Psychedelic late 60's/Early 70's Cat!

I had a lot of fun on this one researching band posters from the period.

A little over a year ago I made this set of Audrey II's for @alexanderdodgedesign based on some very cool puppet's being rented for a Little Shop he had designed.

Fully forgot to post them after the show opened. But please enjoy these cuties. (No better gift than having been able to build these on my 25th brithday)

At the end of June I got to work on this unique piece with @teatrograttacielo with a creative team of incredible women to create an immersive opera set in a Jazz Bar on the Bowery in the 70s!

Two years ago I absolutely fell in love with @noahfloersch's song "Ghost of Chicago" because I love my home.

October/November 2023 I put some eyes in a bed sheet and dragged a few friends to record these clips to prove I had a solid concept for a music video....

Let's just say I never got my full shot list but I threw this together with my silly footage I did get. Instead of letting it die on my desktop I hope it gives you a good chuckle!

I am so incredibly proud to say that my team's submission was selected as one of the four teams for the @operaamerica 2025 Robert L.B. Tobin Director-Designer Prize.

Together we submitted this beautiful proposal for Breaking the Waves (Missy Mazzoli/Royce Vavrek).

I absolutely love this team and I am so excited to continue to develop our concept for this emotional and challenging work of opera.

I unapologetically love when I get to work on TYA, especially ones that emulate golden age 1940's musicals.

Ducklings was a fantastic time, I loved that the team let me play with scale in this set and incorporate toy theatre into the design.

Soon I'll figure out what photos to post of these wonderful TYA show, but before July is so far in the past, I want to thank @hangartheatre for an amazing time as their scenic design fellow!

I do not think I have had a better collaborative environment than I had with our Kidstuff team.

@heyheyheyjackson @brookeoliviaaa @manny.gc.design @amandabaschnagel @sarah.plotkin & @abbyunpingco were amazing people to create two vibrant worlds with

and I am so grateful to the amazing technical staff as well that worked made these worlds come to life in a week and a half each, @chilcoatdesigns you were above and beyond the TD I could have asked for.

TLDR thanks for a wonderful July, Hangar and I look forward to posting our work soon taken in Hangar Theatre by @hew_scenic
