My late father Luka Bošković was one of the cornerstones of Yugoslav jazz and blues scene – a drummer, bandleader, and a man whose rhythms shaped smoky Belgrade (and European) nights in the 80s and 90s.

His only album, “Luka Bošković sa prijateljima” (Luka Bošković with friends), was originally released via PGP RTS in 1998 - funny enough the release date was just one day after his passing. I remember it as clear as day, my mom and me were sitting on the couch, trying to cope with our loss and whats to come, and there it was on our TV - a TVC announcing “Luka Bošković with friends” out now. We both smiled and hugged each other.

Today, 27 years later, and on the date of my late mother’s birthday, I’m proud to share that this record finally lives again in digital form, available worldwide on streaming platforms and as a digital download via BandCamp.

Album features Yugoslav and global Jazz legends like Stjepko Gut, Eddie Busnello, Claus Raible, Miša Blam, Peđa & Jelena Revišin, Ivan Švager, Mikan Zlatković and many others. This album is not just a digital re-release, it’s a legacy, a tribute, and a piece of my family’s history, now preserved for new generations to discover.

The physical issue of the album features a booklet where a famous Yugoslavian journalist, music and movie critic Bogdan Tirnanić wrote the liner notes - I leave them in full (both original and translated to English). The first time I have read these words with a new pair of adult eyes was in my mid-twenties and I remember feeling flabbergasted on how contemporary the words felt then. Today, I feel them even more important and reflective.
