Went along to @________homerun________ drop 2 and filmed a few bits. Had fun putting this one together, so it deserved a life beyond the camera roll 🎥 Feels like I tag @traade_space everyday 🫣😅 by @hey.iain
Tbf it is not always this song when cycling by @hey.iain
@traade_space 2 @bostockbakery … and BACK IS 100km CAKE CAKE CAKE!!! CYCKE CYCLE CYCLE!!! by @hey.iain
Trying out the @attaquer balaclava for winter 🥶❄️ Was 0-2°C when we started today and I’d have to say it is good. Warm and easy to breathe through and doesn’t get soaked. Not so easy to eat portokalopita with. Please don’t try to ban my account again Instagram for wearing a balaclava 🥷 by @hey.iain
Last weekend, I was out with the @mountainhigher club. Riding in a big group is fun, you go quicker, it feels safer, and cars see a big group easier. Good group of folks. The camera ran out of battery, so no coffee or cafe footage but they were banging. by @hey.iain
What a Cruffin good day. @jamieonward doing his first 100km. Got to try a @bostockbakery Cruffin. @jimmy_endurance_coach giving a master class on drafting. Also Jamie had a puncture, so got to test out the knowledge. Cows loved watching three idiots trying to fix it 🤣 by @hey.iain
⛰️Redstone Rigg ⛰️one of the biggest road climbs near Edinburgh. I first did this months ago and almost couldn’t get up it. Made me realise I needed a bike fit or a new back. Bike fit from @patrick.lamont_bikefitter sorted me out. I think @jimmy_endurance_coach secretly loves this climb. We took a new route back which let us go down to Nunraw Abbey. 🍋🫖Lemon ice tea flavour packet in case anyone wanted to know. by @hey.iain
Soft baklava, soaked in syrup with a wee hint of orange 😗👌🍊 How is it only now that I have found out about Orange Pie? It like that time I discovered pistachio ice cream. Get it at the urban aid station @traade_space by @hey.iain
Turns out Portobello to Dunbar is exactly 100km by @hey.iain
POV 100km cycle with @jimmy_endurance_coach Smith’s Dragonfruit flavoured carb mix, @bostockbakery coffee and Kouign-amann pastry, @traade_space coffee, should have had an orange pie. Then ending with an @viaaemilia fried chicken sandwich. What a Sunday 😗👌 by @hey.iain
Pomegranate was the flavour of the day and 112km was the random distance I went. Z2 for those people that like buzz words. Wish I got up to do the botanic laps with the origin group ride 😢 … next time. POMEGRANATE 8/10 by @hey.iain
When @jimmy_endurance_coach wants blood, you know it’s either lactate testing time or a hit has been put out on a deer. Luckily, it was lactate testing this time. I did an @inscyd_ performance test on the bike last month, and my VLamax came back at 0.58 mmol/L/s. That’s my maximum lactate production rate, aka skill points in short/hard “let it rip” efforts. Useful for putting the hammer down, but a lower VLamax is generally more helpful for the marathon and Ironman 😈 I need to rebalance my skill points. I need an updated running profile, so we know my training paces. The next goal is to improve my VO2max and raise my lactate threshold. Build a bigger aerobic engine and get faster at an effort I can sustain. With the profile we can target those areas using extract paces. Anyway here is Fred Durst and Jimmy doing some science. by @hey.iain
