Hello! so in less than 24 hrs (7a Sunday--tomorrow watch on NASA youtube), another one of my "space babies" launches from FL. The Nancy Roman Space Telescope. With the remaining time before launch, I wanted to take the time to share this portrait photo taken earlier this summer where the project allowed its folks to take solo pics in the last days of Roman being in Greenbelt, MD where I work. In a bittersweet way, once again I'm in the control room for launch (here in Greenbelt) and not at the pad as a pure spectator. But that mini-regret aside, I wanted to use this time to thank friends near and far for their support during this past year and during what were some of the roughest years from when I started on Roman right after the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope in Dec 2021 going into 2022. Four years of a lot of long sighs and of tiredness and long stretches of not being home. Part of that goes away with the launch of this telescope. But not going to lie-- the work pressures on this one were really tough. Sure its launching a month or so ahead of schedule (to avoid any fiscal year budget stuffs) and is under budget, but that did come at a toll. But enough hum-drum. I wanted thank people and my family. Thank you for the fun, the smiles the cheers and invites and company this past year and in the years since 2022 which kept my spirits lifted. I didn't say much about the science and you can google, but essentially Roman will survey more of the visible universe (100x more) than Hubble could. Looking for exoplanets and dark energy. Roman will be 1 million miles away at "L2" much like my other telescope, the James Webb, which is still making daily discoveries. Having a hand in Hubble, Webb and Roman NASA telescopes-- 3 of the larger contributors to our space knowledge, has been a fantastic privilege. #idospacestuff 🚀🛰️

So remember i posted how you can send your name on the lastest Space Telescope (the Nancy Roman Space Telescope)? i worked on it for 4 years. It launches Aug 30. Well here's a trimmed down snippit of them putting the SD card that they literally bonded onto a plate to send up w the telescope. 1.3 million names. This was done in FL during readiness ops.
Also engraved / honored are the names of some NASA folks who had passed.

Not the best communicator (because he's a part owner of the Commanders too) but Mark Ein and Mubadala just announced (on socials) free 1000 first come first serve tickets. It does little for out of town friends but locals, try and bring Alex across the finish line. 🏁🇵🇭

Winning Time!!
i know it's hard to see the ball in the horizontal video, but stay a while and enjoy the drama of match point for Alex Eala as she wins and makes her way to the Finals tomorrow in this 3min video.
You can see her emotion as she walks to her coaches' area.

A shame it was a double fault, but Alex moves on in DC. Great to be there and experience the joy and pride. taken in Mubadala DC Open by @heyacey
