I just made a HOLE IN ONE ☝️ ⛳️

When you least expect it, it happens. We played against the wind literally all day, and I was completely spent by the time I reached hole 17 at the National GC Moonah course.

The head wind was blistering and the distance was ranged at 147m. I was about to take out my 5 Wood but stopped to ask Alan if I should use my driver. Sure enough, he was right. I needed at least 2-3 club lengths to beat the wind.

After one practice swing and a long deep breath, I told myself I needed a miraculous shot here. I would have been happy with a Par, but lo and behold, I made a nice controlled swing into the wind which faded from the left, bounced onto fairway, then onto the green in line with the pin.

I couldn’t see it rolled in (it was hilly and it blocked my viewed) until I walked up to the green to look for my ball. It was only until Alan yelled out, “check inside the hole”.

To my bewilderment, I did and I couldn’t believe it. I never thought this day would ever come. Fourth year into my golfing journey, I finally made a hole in one… with a @titleist_anz yellow ProV1X ball and @taylormadeausnz Stealth 2 Driver 🤭😅

I will never forget this day. I certainly got my $230 worth back haha.

About 5 years back, I was on the waiting list for another @melbournesandbelt course, but mates at @huntingdalegolfclub pulled me aside one day and showed me the master plan. It looked incredible—big changes coming—and I thought, “This is where I want to be.” So I made the big decision to jump off the other list and join Huntingdale.

Quickly, I felt right at home. Made lots of new friends, everyone was friendly and easy to get along with, and there were always fun chats at the clubhouse after a round. Then the renovation finally kicked off, and it was a long wait. We were lucky to play at Cranbourne during that time and get to know their community too—but over 2 years still felt like forever.

The course finally opened up a couple of weeks ago. I’d already seen bits from videos and from the clubhouse, but stepping onto the full grass property and playing it properly? Wow, it exceeded expectations in every way. @ocmgolf have done an amazing job.

Since the first two rounds were social golf, I decided to take my time, film, and explore from the ground—no rushing, just soaking it all in wherever my ball ended up. You’ve probably seen the drone shots on Insta already, so now it’s time for the ground-level view. Excuse my amateur videos and swing lol, but enjoy the refreshed fairways, bunkers that still bite (in the best way), rough and wild vegetation, pure-rolling greens, stunning new vistas, a few swings, and some clubhouse views.

Here are the first proper looks—grouped as bunkers, clubhouse/double green, greens, tee shot views, vistas, wasteland rough vegetation + more shots (including swings and club house bits). Enjoy, and watch her evolve over time. It’s only going to get better. ⛳

Can @WilsonAustralia help me whoop @heyalanwoo 9 hole battle at the @EasternGolfClub ? 😅⛳️

The rules are: we both play off the yellow tees. Me on @WILSONGOLF clubs only, Alan on his own irons & Wilson balls. HC 9 vs HC 0, so I get a shot per hole.

Always love coming back to play in my hometown. Got whooped by my old man again even though I have been in form. He still has the upper hand on me.

Is this Australias best inland course? I reckon it is right up there.

Royal Canberra sits inside the Westbourne Woods Arboretum in Yarralumla. 27 holes through heritage listed trees right in the middle of Canberra.

We played the Brindabella course this time. For those asking it is holes 1 to 9 and 19 to 27. Par 72 and the tournament layout they use for Club Champs. Beautifully manicured as always and recently returfed with Santa Ana couch on holes 1 to 18 so it is looking pure even in early spring. It will only get better in a month.

The iconic 10th at The National - Moonah 🌾

356m par 4 built around a working farm windmill from the 80s. They almost tore it down when building the course.

Still one of the best holes on the Peninsula.

They say I scramble better than eggs. Took the lead in the quarter finals. Spent the morning in bunkers, rough and trees. Still got it on the green. Lost 2&1. Thanks to the wife for caddying. This is the view from the clubhouse at Hoiana Shores.
Robert Trent Jones Jr designed Vietnam’s first true links course. Then Korean and Vietnamese food right there.
