I pulled up to my destination and felt my heart rate quickening.

Instead of stressing I pulled out my phone and recorded myself talking through my fears

It’s vulnerable. Songwriting, let alone performing the song you wrote. Especially in a small space with seasoned musicians !

But what I say here is real.

I know I’m just scared because it’s new.

I know I need the practice.

And I know exposing myself to this newness is good for me.

For training my nervous system to trust that I can do this

That I am enough

That I am safe

That I have nothing to “prove” and everything to gain from allowing myself to do new things, take up space, and maybe even shine !

Now way but through.

And how cool it will be to look back at this moment when I’m a seasoned performer who trusts herself and her gifts.

She’ll be super duper grateful that I started here, with a workshop and a pep talk 🧡 taken in Portland, Oregon by @heycosmicbug

The past six years have been wild !

From being laid off at the start of the pandemic and realizing I’ve only ever lived my life according to someone else’s rules, to filing for bankruptcy and freeing myself from decisions younger me made from a place of fear.

From losing a partner and my housing because I was financially insecure to having my own apartment and being able to travel internationally…

the past six years have been huge for me, filled with incredible opportunities to grow and prove to myself that I can build a life.

And now that I no longer need to be operating in survival mode, I want to dream even bigger.

I want a life where the reason I struggle to fall asleep at night is because I’m so giddy to wake up and do it all again.

So I’m going to do just that !!

And I hope you do too!!!

because we all deserve to create a life that feels so magical we almost can’t believe it’s real ✨

I almost stopped taking photos

I was shaming myself for having 47,000 of them on my phone…

But then I realized I do this because I love doing it

I love capturing the world around me

It’s my unique perspective, the things I find beauty and joy and light in

And I love sharing that with others!

I am a multipassionate artist, this is what I do.

So, instead of calling it all off…

I made a decision to be more intentional with what I’m capturing

Being more present in the moment and letting the effect of what I’m wanting to capture sink in to my being

allowing myself to be affected by what I’m noticing instead of just capturing it with my camera

I’ve also started taking walks intentionally without my phone, removing the ability for me to be pulled out of presence that way

And now? I feel beyond content with this compromise

I still get to express myself and my love for this beautiful world

And feel more intentional about how I’m spending my time, energy, and storage space…

because I hope to never stop reflecting the beauty of this world back to itself,

I followed the nudge and booked the flight

I had the hostel, the entertainment, the tingling promise of another international excursion ahead of me

But then things shifted and my cat’s health became erratic

For weeks I felt this worry creeping in

How could I comfortably leave him when each day is different from the next?

Deep down I knew I couldn’t

I listened to the voice within me that said Spain would be there but Tippy would not always be. I had made a commitment to prioritizing his health and this is my opportunity to recommit in real time

And that was it. Decision made.

Some may think I’d be feeling real down about not taking the trip, at the money I wouldn’t be getting back

But I feel absolutely content knowing I am aligning with my truest desires

I see this as a beautiful example of my growth

Of taking the leap and following what light me up, AND adjusting my trajectory depending on how life is… life-ing

I’m so proud!! For even booking the trip !!

Brooklyn of a year ago is jumping for joy that we even had the courage and resources to do it

So I won’t have a layover in London or be dancing at the house show on Saturday or lounging at Parc Güell

But I am building this muscle of having full trust in myself no matter what…

the reveal !

I still think the first part of this story is more interesting — how our bodies react to the unknown and to change, regardless of how big or small.

but I’m here to satisfy curious minds ! considering not doing my normal thing of documenting everything that sparks joy felt like dying. And that felt WILD !

so I listened closer. And after some feeling and reflecting I learned that sharing my perspective with the world is very important to me AND I still felt there was room to adjust how I was going about it.

Bop on over to the art of noticing to experience the world through my eyes for a bit 😘😌🧡✨

weekend sun means more art for my neighbors 🥰

I’d love to figure out a weatherproofing solution so I can still spread joy with these little pieces even during the dreary weather… ☔️

this time all but one piece was gone within a few hours! It’s funny, all I really want is to share some light with the world but I absolutely did a giddy little happy dance when I got home to see they were gone 🥹
