This course equips climbers with the fundamental movement techniques for crack climbing from thin to wide sizes. This course covers essentials like, warming up, taping, body positioning, jamming, friction, rock assessment, and route reading. Our instructors will provide low-risk environments for practicing and to review the skills you will need to continue climbing in different cracks. We’ll also discuss the desert environment and how to plan for your adventures with a leave-no-trace mindset.

Have you taken a clinic with Lor yet? We’re so lucky to have them joining us again to share their Falling on Gear clinic at the Flash Foxy Mini Fest in the Gunks!
.
@lor_sabourin fell in love with climbing at a gym in Detroit, Michigan when they were twelve years old. As a young climber, they split their time between competitive climbing and exploring sandstone crags in the southeast. Lor has a diverse background in the climbing industry as a guide, route setter, and coach. They now work as a mental training coach and therapist, exploring the relationship between mental health, mental performance, and community resilience in adventure sports. Lor loves all types of climbing, but they are especially drawn to steep splitter cracks and desert towers.

Friday night we’ll get groovy together in a Salsa Dancing workshop with Luca Verano Diaz @cubanx__ (he/they) 💃🏼🪩 This workshop is catered to beginner and open-level learners who are curious about learning to dance Salsa On2 through a gender-affirming, embodied, and trauma-informed lens. Participants will learn some key historical background of the foundations of Salsa along with fundamental footwork and affirming body movement/styling for all genders. This workshop does not require any partner-work but it does require openness to engaging with the elements of yourself, the environment and the fellow dancers around you! The steps you learn in this workshop will be tightly choreographed to BAILE INoLVIDABLE by Bad Bunny (subject to change but regardless, we make it queer!!!). This workshop is intended to be fun, whimsical, sensual, and groooovy by the ROCKS!
