A new school year is bittersweet as over the last couple weeks with no camp and a lot of daytime-Dad-time this little guy and I have become really close in a new way. I didn’t know if it was just me hoping it was true or reality until I saw this photo from school. It fills me with joy to see him this happy. Now back to making dolphin jokes on the radio. by @heygregr

Shaggy was the biggest little cat I’ve ever known. I’m not sure I ever saw him catch one, but he always made me feel safe from house flies because he was a hunter, a mouser, through and through.

One wave of an outstretched finger and you had a best friend ready for a lap nap with his defective yet ridiculously loud purr. He had a gooey eye, a meep in place of a meow, and a love of people who came to his kingdom.

The day we brought him home a baby, in my memory, always feels like Shaggy’s best day. He immediately took his responsibility of raising his human boy very serious going as far as to sleep in the crib before his boy ever did 🥲.

Shaggy may have pooped on the floor next to the box in a twelve year protest of Lori bringing home the wrong second cat, but even this commitment to what he believed was admirable in its own gross way.

On his final day, Shaggy surprised us all and gave us a good laugh as he hunted one final time: Churu. What a mess.

Thank you for letting me pick you up (as long as I didn’t take any steps) as you helped me overcome some fear about cats scratching me.

I’ll miss you, Shaggy. What you gave our family was simple, fierce, and full of determined kindness. by @heygregr

I let him take the photo. What a result! Summer’s almost over, mom is out of town, he wants to snuggle on the couch and watch F1. Pretty good result for tired dad! by @heygregr
