Finally did something that my future self would’ve never thought of but would definitely be proud of!

Sidequest Maxxing with @centurytunasuperbods 2026

As my intro, I shared my advocacy about mental wellness & safe spaces in fitness and the reason why I joined this year’s competition.

This is the 2014 Chal who registred for the 2014 @centurytunasuperbods go-see but did not show up on the day coz he got scared.

If you told this college Chal that he’d be auditioning for something like this, he’ll never believe you and would just laugh at your face.

I’ve carried insecurities and had very low self esteem until I was in my early 20s. But this was also the exact same version of Chal that I think of whenever I ask myself why I’m doing what I’m doing now.

During the go-see, all I wanted to do was to show up for the past versions of Chal that never showed up. I did not even think I’d get in yhe semi-finals but I know I’m making myself proud just by being there.

I’ve met a lot of people along that way and I’m just glad that I get to meet fellow superbods who are not only finalists but also friends outside the competition.

See that awkward smile? I know I wasn’t in my element. But I did it anyway. Because it’s not everyday that you get to do this nor I would’ve imagined to be doing these things.

What I wasn’t prepared for was the long day ahead of us. But what’s a little wait if it’s for something that you wanted for a long time.

“You are exactly where you need to be.” Just a quick reminder in the back stage telling us that whetever the outcome may be, you need to honor the journey and most importantly - honor yourself

So here’s to whatever journey that lies in the horizon. Thank you Universe for allowing me to have this experience and letting me become my best self and have a #SuperbodEra .

To my family & friends who believed in me, thank you for seeing something in me that was sometimes hard for me to see. Mahal ko kayo - SAGAD!!!

And to Chal,

Maraming salamat sa pagbigay ng chance sa sarili mo ulet; for putting in the work; for allowing yourself to be seen and heard; and for standing up for what you believe in.

Of leaving and staying

“Why do they have to leave? Why can’t they stay?”

My heart broke when Vivienne asked me this mid-crying after we dropped the whole family off at the airport this morning. I tried to explain as best as I can, how they really just wanted to spend the holidays with us, but, the holidays are over and they have to go back home.

Then Matteson asked the harder question—-

“But we are their family, why can’t this be their home? Why did you have to leave your home? And what made you decide to stay?”

The best answer I can give was Love—-is the reason Papa offered to send me here over 17 years ago so I can live independent of the pressures of caring for our family after Mama passed on. It is also the reason I decided to stay—-because I found my one true love and chose to spend forever and build a life with him.

I guess you can also say that it is the reason why this, leaving, visting, and choosing to leave and/or stay, gets harder each time—-because ABS-CBN is right all along—-family, is truly, love.

There’s drama and chaos, but they’re nothing compared to the pure, belly-aching fun and laughter; there are issues and fights, but there is also forgiveness and acceptance.

Lots of memories were made in the last 2.5 weeks that the FamBam is here—-hopefully enough to sustain this Ate’s heart until we are physically together again ❤️

POV: You stopped being scared and started believing in yourself more.

Sharing this because this was the first time that I just completely believed in myself that I can do it. I’ve always been afraid of squatting movements coz of my old ACL injury. This was my first time going for 225#. It took my Coach @thekentan to believe in me first before I started believing it myself. Thank you soooo much, Coach Ken!!!
