Surround yourself with people doing cool shit.

When I moved back to Calgary during COVID, it was serendipitous to reconnect with old friends and new at @studiolumayyc, who were all working on creative projects like podcasts, YouTube channels, photography, and videography businesses.

As one of my favorite artists, Henri Matisse, once said, "creativity takes courage." Expressing creativity means allowing yourself to be vulnerable by sharing something you make at the risk of being judged by others.

I've always loved making art as a kid but was reluctant to share anything because I never thought I was good. I've learned now that creativity isn't about being good. It's about self-exploration and expression. I probably wouldn't have mustered up any courage to share what I love if it hadn't been for the people around me who have been so fucking cool to share what they make too.

Wherever you are in your craft, don't be afraid to share it. You just never know who needs to borrow some of your courage to put themselves out there too.

Thank you for the photos and great talks @timthechen 🤍 by @heyitsfridayjr

If you wanna be ✨fancy✨learn how to use a dip pen for modern calligraphy, I got chu!

I made a little video on YT on the supplies you’ll need plus a free downloadable workbook to build your confidence with a nib pen 🖋

One of the best parts about starting dip pen calligraphy as a hobby is that it’s surprisingly inexpensive to get started! You can get a nib, holder, and ink (to last you for years) for under $20!

This video is probably by fav one yet thank you to @studiolumayyc @fatoned @lela.sanders for helping me put all of this together 🙏🤍
