🌱Nefo@21: A Video Diary

One thing about me is that I LOVE to document. I’ve always loved looking back on things, mostly baby pictures but I realise that I also have to actively create things to look back on. And my birthday is usually when I remember.

So this is an expression of creativity but also of reflection - hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed filming and editing! Special thanks to my friends, flatmates and of course the Lord Jesus for inspiration!

I’m 21!
I’m just happy I survived but more on that later.

It’s been an interesting one, I’ve been a lot more subdued than usual about this birthday - however I feel I have a clearer picture of life itself. And what that looks like for me going forward. I’m joyful despite my circumstances and for that I can only thank God.

Major shoutout to the girls for all their help - from shooting, dealing with my pickiness, moving furniture, and getting stuck in another city for 4 hours.

MVP has to be Subomi aka @madebysubomi for editing and colour grading every single photo and dealing with last minute requests. We can all agree she ate (check her page out she’s too cool - bet u didn’t know she’s a whizz with photoshop too).

Tired of overthinking instagram because I sat on this in the drafts since May?? Had to remember that most won’t make it past the first slide anyways so what’s the big deal 😝

Anyways over the past 2ish months, life has picked the thickest stick from a tree and used it to beat me. Recovery is interesting. No real word for it.

Very peaceful. Feeling very peaceful in God.

Storm is calming. All is most definitely NOT calm, but regardless we move forwards. That’s all we can do. Getting calmer tho!

2024 in smiles - my happiest year yet 🌟

Honestly this year has been one of the most challenging, but also the most rewarding and important year of my entire life so far.

The Lord refined me A LOT. Leaving that sentence there because I physically cannot go into that🤣

So many big milestones for me. I’m just so grateful. Mentally, physically, spiritually, academically…this year I’ve lived in the knowledge that because of God I never really walk alone.

This has been the most joyous year of my life. I never expected to smile this much. God kept me smiling the entire year. I’m pretty sure my smile lines have deepened😂 I ended last year in anxiety and tears, desperately praying to God to give me joy. And he delivered. This year hasn’t been sunshine and rainbows the entire time, but my smile never faded.

If you knew where I was coming from you’d understand how big of a testimony this is.

This year was only as good as it was because it was the year I first learnt to trust God fully.

Lately I’ve been looking at the number 20 in the Bible and it’s the number of maturity, or of plans coming into fruition. In the Bible 20 year olds became adults, and gave their own offerings. It’s a number of wholeness and symbolises completeness after a period of waiting.

God’s people waited 20 years to get the ark back from the Philistines. Jacob waited 7 years for Leah, then another 7 for Rachel, then 6 to finally leave Laban, his father in law. That’s 20 years.

After living in a waiting period of 20 years, I feel that God’s presence and glory are starting to begin to manifest in my life. And I am so grateful to the Most High. He’s done so much for me, particularly in the last 2 years - I’ve come to know Him in truth and I wouldn’t change a thing about that. I’m excited for this (VERY important and life-altering) decade of my life, because I get to do it with Jesus.
