Halloween, but make it wellness. by @heykatewilliams

A few nights ago my son told me that he thinks I’m going to be a really good writer when I grow up. Buddy, I am working on it! Anyway, my last book, How To Stop Trying, came out in 2025. It was a quiet launch that coincided with a lot of major life changes, so I didn’t promote it like I normally would have. But I still get DMs and emails like this on a pretty regular basis. These messages mean the world to me, and remind me why I read and write: to connect and feel seen, and to give that feeling to others. A funny book about mental health, miscarriage and decades of self-loathing? Ya’ll, AI could never!!! by @heykatewilliams

Can summer please slow down? I need more surfing and snacks and slumber parties and fountain sodas and night walks and all the things. by @heykatewilliams

I generally don’t like making suppositions about an author from their works of fiction, but you guys, Emily Brontë was not okay. And don’t get me started on Heathcliff… 🙄 by @heykatewilliams

Yesterday in the office, we were talking about what was our word for the year. The first word that came to mind for me was “hyper fixation,” and then I realized that everyone else was choosing good words that they wanted more of… Anyway, this is the first time I’ve started a book with the apprehension that it might not be as good as the TV show? by @heykatewilliams

2025 has been my best year in a long time, and while there are many reasons for that (good health, good friends, sunshine, salt water), the one that stands out the most is @alo, my first full-time job in over a decade. 2024 marked my 10 year anniversary of working for myself. In that time, I wrote 12 books, and while it was in many ways the career I had always dreamed of, the day-to-day was wearing on me, and I missed collaborating with people who existed outside of my own head. I knew I needed a change and I’d barely gotten past googling “job for writer” when I had dinner one night with @bobbytooyoung at LA’s hottest restaurant, the Cheesecake Factory at the Grove. When I mentioned I was thinking of applying at [insert LA wellness company with toxic rep here], he grimaced. “You don’t want to work for them,” he said, “You want to work for me.”

He was right. I interviewed at @alo on Valentine’s Day and started on St. Patrick’s, and the time since has been life-changing. It is an incredibly tough time for writers in all industries, and I am so grateful for this opportunity, this role, and for the ease with which it found me. The universe had been plotting this one for a while, I think, because I’ve never worked someplace before that both pushed me to be better but also allowed me to show up as my whole self, purse full of crystals and all. Excited for what’s to come in 2026. The vibes are high and rising. 💫 by @heykatewilliams
