I love my village and I’m so grateful for all the women that have helped me raise these wonderful, sweet, silly, and wild kids. Thank you for loving on mine, and letting me love on yours. Thank you for always checking in. Thank you for pushing them on the swings, playing their favorite video games, you words of encouragement, the extra bandaids and snacks, and your tight hugs.

We explored some of the fine things Governors Island has to offer yesterday: bike rides, fries, ice cream, cool swings, and only shed a couple minutes of tears ❤️ We did not make it to Slide Hill or the spa.

Styled and photographed these stripe studies from my closet. I love the scale and directional shifts of look 1. The slides in look 2 are as soft as a cloud. I borrowed the button down from my mom’s closet many years ago. Shall we call this vol. 1? This was fun. by @heykatieevans

Behind the scenes of a project for @scholastic’s Bob Books series. @penpal_studio and @heykatieevans teamed up again to create a suite of lifestyle videos and photos celebrating 50 years of Bob Books. It was a snowy day in February, but inside it was warm and full of the cutest little voices sounding out words. Truly a sweet way to spend the day.

A portrait of me for the next couple of months. The tissues, the spray, the nose strips, the little pink pills, the citrus for some optimism. This face sculpture is the perfect representation for how I feel. (@toddstjohn made it. I snagged it at his studio sale years ago). by @heykatieevans

Contents from a day off with my family: One very important stick George discovered and could not leave behind. Photobooth strips from Auto Photo. First time for the kids. Georgie kept saying “I don’t want to go in the box” and was ultimately persuaded with gummies. A Costco cookie earned after surviving the morning trip. If you’ve ever navigated that parking lot, you know it’s less errand and more endurance sport. One monster truck. Frances’s untouched apple. Georgie’s abandoned apple. Tissues for everyone’s runny nose. Sunglasses I packed confidently, despite the fact that we’re still deep in dreary winter. by @heykatieevans

Took a ceramics class night with @something_elsas. She opens up for studio for @claydies_night. We made rattles by starting with two pinch pots and then molded them into our own shapes. Such a calming way to end the week doing something with our hands and hanging with an inspiring group of women. I made a fake banana and pear 🤭 Excited to pick these up after she fires them. by @heykatieevans

Had a fun shoot at @scholastic this week shooting imagery for their Clubs and Dollars programs. We styled teacher desks, library nooks, and made many colorful book stacks. I got behind the camera this time and loved partnering with @penpal_studio and krizzdub 📚✨ by @heykatieevans

I always feel creatively recharged when we take a trip to Bovina. There’s something about making things with my hands just for the joy of it. These cardboard fish were a spontaneous afternoon project (George helped paint!). The kids “fished” with them until they got distracted by the snails.🐌 taken in Bovina, New York by @heykatieevans

I got a new camera for Mother’s Day and have been having so much fun playing around with it. Last week in Bovina I dressed up my crew in my favorite @hannaandersson pieces and we went for a nice walk. Frances asked to take a photo at the end and I love it.
