Happy Birthday, Honey.

We sure do miss you. We’ve had quite the summer. Jack turned 2! And every time he play answers the phone, he says “Hi Dad!” I took the kids to Colorado, Chicago, down the shore, California, Scituate, The Cape, and Woodstock! EMMY TURNED 5!!!!! A whole handful. I threw a Morris Backyard rager. She starts kindergarten in a few weeks, just down the block like we planned.

$I never imagined I’d be looking through old photos to find comfort after such a tragic loss. But here I am. These images are only a small fraction of the memories I have of my sweet brother-in-law, Jon, and they don’t even begin to do him justice. He was the definition of kindness—a loving son, brother, husband, father and friend to everyone who knew him. Our hearts are broken, but this family is strong. We still have each other. On Friday, we lost one of the all-time greats far too soon.

The first photo is the last one we took together — late October.

Jon was my best friend. We met in college and spent the better part of 14 formative years together in NYC. Within that timeframe, life unfolded side by side — careers, families, celebrations, setbacks, and everything in between.

He was an incredible father, husband, brother, and son, and a friend to literally everyone he met. He stood next to me as my best man, and I had the honor of marrying him and Keely — a moment I’ll carry with me forever.

There are no words that fully capture how much he meant to so many of us.
