Goodbye to Indigo Woods and to our favourite camp counselors. Just over a week ago we closed The Grown-ups by Simon Henriques and Skylar Fox at this year’s @vancouverfringe 💙

Thank you to everyone who came out to see the show, to the volunteers, and to the festival staff for making this such an amazing experience. Meet Cassie! She may be a camp newbie, but she’s a hard worker and we’re thrilled to have her at Indigo Woods for the summer. We’re sure her first summer here will be one to remember! If you see Cassie around, be sure to ask her about skiing or her bracelets, both are pretty cool.

We can’t wait for you to meet Deanica Galo as our Cassie! Deanica Galo (she/her) is a theatre artist and public school teacher based on xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh) lands (aka Vancouver). She is thrilled to be performing in her third Vancouver Fringe show, and is so excited to be joining the team at Camp Indigo Woods this year as Cassie — thank you so much Lexacon for the opportunity! Recent credits include: WROL (Rough Magic Theatre) and Shared Space (Bramble Theatre Collective). When she is not acting, Deanica can be found creating community-minded theatre spaces with Bramble Theatre Collective, teaching 3rd graders, playing cozy video games, working on her year-long crochet project, and taking dance classes. She hopes you enjoy your time at Camp Indigo Woods — it’s going to be a great summer. taken in Vancouver, British Columbia by @heylexacon

Say hello to Becca! Becca is our most organized senior counselor, Maeve’s bestie, and another camper turned counselor! She’s a team player but won’t hesitate to take the lead if the opportunity arises. If you run into Becca, ask her about her scary story, she loooooves to tell it every summer at camp.

Becca will be played by Alexa McKee! Not only is Alexa in the cast, but she’s also the co-founder of Lexacon, co-producer of The Grown-Ups, and our Costume/HMU designer. Originally from northern Saskatchewan, Alexa is an actor, musician, and beginner clown based in Vancouver! She holds a B.A. in Human Geography and Theatre from UBC and currently works in digital marketing and content creation. In addition to Lexacon, Alexa is part of the Ragamuffin Productions (Junebug, Camp Goneaway) team! You may have caught her on stage with Ragamuffin at Theatre Under the Wire in February. She is so thankful to everyone involved in the show for coming onboard, putting their trust in Lexacon’s first project, and for giving this show so much love and care!

Select acting credits include: Hurricane Diane (Leather & Lace Theatre), Vascular Necrosis (Glitch Theatre & Bramble Theatre Collective), Head Over Heels (UBC Players Club), Vascular Necrosis (Bramble Theatre Collective & rEvolver Festival), 30 Neo-Futurist Plays (Bramble Theatre Collective).
