Very inspired by the habitat installations in the Denver Botanical Gardens!! Shows how what we may consider “trash” and “yard waste” are essential materials that pollinators, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and small mammals in our yards need for shelter and nesting. And that they can be beautiful!! 2/2 by @heylittlebat

1: Pickling cucumbers, some green beans, few small bell peppers, parsley, chives, and basil still going. To reach the beans, I tied down the trellis, creating a cool half-arch!

2: Four of eight different tomato varieties planted in grow bags, still producing. The one closest is Mike’s Wild Cherry and it has taken over the other 3 varieties!

3-5: the spoils to make paella a few weeks ago

I now have a small weather station that I’m using in my backyard to track the summer heat. The closest weatherunderground station near me is Washington Avenue Coalition. I calculate heat index using the temperature and humidity readings on my weather station and plug it into the National Weather Service’s Heat Index Chart from NOAA. by @heylittlebat
