The best businesses were never just companies, but communities that happened to sell something Our expert Rhea thinks every business should be building a community around what it does. That’s what Heyouthere community is there for, proof that community isn’t a bonus, it’s the business. What would your project look like if you built it as a community first? Share it in the comments. #heyouthere #aspiringentrepreneurs #startupswitzerland #communityfirst #businessbuilding by @heyouthere_com
AND NOW — IT’S A FORMAT! When they say “community”, I think people. In the Heyouthere community case it’s the people who are the community — the project owners, the team players and the experts. So we just talk and then we cut it into content pieces people are happy and proud to share. This is how community works. Whatever I do, it’s always a long-term platform and concept vision. Can’t do any other. That’s what art directors do. That’s what I do. by @heyouthere_com
On Tuesday we had our first session of Lead with more than grit, with Rhea Ong Yiu. The theme was curiosity: staying open when we don't have the answer yet. Rhea told us the story of a plant where predictive analytics had failed for two years. Instead of another survey on functionalities, the approach changed: ask the operators what the most frustrating part of their job was. The result? Nothing to do with analytics: they wanted to step out for a coffee without losing sight of production. The fix was bringing the data on an iPad they could take with them. Just looking at the human problem first, adding analytics after. Thanks to Rhea Ong Yiu for leading it, and to Murat Bayhan and Mahmood Hermes for putting their own questions on the table. Next session is on Courage: something not linear, that doesn't build up neatly until you're "ready". We will publish the event soon, open to heyouthere members. Do you want to be in the room? Last Wednesday we ran our first Project Discussion Group session. The conversation covered several interesting topics: how to create awareness with your early customers leveraging a network of experts, how to approach investors, how to present an idea so that it convinces them, and which cantons are the right ones to start certain initiatives. Thanks to our experts Richard Koch, Patrick Brennan and Matteo Zilla for the time and advice, and also thanks to Christophe Perruchoud and Amit Singh for bringing their projects Doloreo and Nimverta. Would you like to bring your project to the table with our experts? Join us, link in bio. Our expert panel changes at every session, depending on the projects. If you have experience you would like to put at the service of people who are starting, you are welcome too. by @heyouthere_com
Investors can smell a cash grab before you’ve finished your pitch. Our expert Rhea says if your mission isn’t sincere, the people who matter will know it. That’s what Heyouthere community is there for: helping you build something true enough to hold up under scrutiny. Is your “why” something you’d say the same way to a stranger as to an investor? Share your thoughts below. #heyouthere #aspiringentrepreneurs #startupswitzerland #sincerity #realmission by @heyouthere_com
Need support on a specific aspect of your idea or your early-stage business? Tell us what your challenge is, and four experts will be there to help: entrepreneurship, team dynamics, brand design, finance. The other project owners in the room take part in the discussion, so everyone gains from it. Wednesday 7 October, 12.15; First edition, three projects, online. This is one of the things that happen inside heyouthere. Joining is free, link in bio. by @heyouthere_com
The best bosses don’t manage your every move, they trust you’ll make the right one. Rhea Ong Yiu believes trust isn’t a word you say, it’s how you show up. The same matters when you’re developing an idea: having people around you who give you the space to explore can make a difference. When was the last time someone trusted you enough to let you figure it out? Produced by Andrey Klemenkov at KLMN.TV by @heyouthere_com
Looking to develop a project idea, or discover one? We're very pleased to offer a new opportunity to all our members. Our expert Rhea Ong Yiu is bringing us a three-part experiential leadership journey inspired by her book Adventures with Coco: Leadership and Life's Little Wonders, packed with real-life adventures with her dog Coco in the hills around Basel. (And with a bit of luck, Coco might make a cameo during the calls.) Designed for founders and anyone developing an idea, these will be interactive working sessions. Through group conversation and hot-seat coaching, @Rhea Ong Yiu will explore what may be getting in the way and help build momentum to get ideas out into the world. Three connected sessions: -Curiosity: staying open when we don't have the answer yet -Courage: acting before we feel ready and letting our unfinished ideas be seen -Growth: bringing things together and taking the first step Each session will close with a reflection and an "Adventure of the Week"; one small action to take and continue experimenting with between sessions. The aim of these sessions is also to develop our capacity to lead, and build momentum around ideas. Interested? Join Rhea for the first session, Curiosity, on Heyouthere. The best professional encounters are never scheduled. Sarah has watched them happen at her own events, people arriving as strangers and leaving as partners. That’s also what Heyouthere community is there for: putting people in the same room; conversations do the rest. Where did your best professional encounter happen? Share it in the comments. #heyouthere #aspiringentrepreneurs #startupswitzerland #networking #community by @heyouthere_com
Your first plan for a startup probably won’t survive contact with reality. Our expert Rhea believes the founders who make it aren’t the ones who got it right first try, they’re the ones willing to let the idea change. That’s what Heyouthere community is there for, a space to test ideas until they’re actually right, not just first. What’s one idea you’ve already had to let go of? Tell us in the comments. #heyouthere #aspiringentrepreneurs #startupswitzerland #foundermindset #letgoofperfect by @heyouthere_com
Encouragement feels good. Hard questions build better projects. Sarah believes every idea needs someone who won’t just applaud it. That’s what Heyouthere community is there for: finding people who’ll challenge your project before the market does. Who asks you the uncomfortable questions? Tell us in the comments. by @heyouthere_com
