The Black Photojournalism exhibit at the Amon Carter museum was amazing! I went on a Thursday for their Cameras & Community event. There was so much to do and see, that I only saw about half of the exhibit. But I had a really good time. If you can, you gotta checkout the exhibit! It’s free and runs through July 5.

I sat in on the conversation of Black Photojournalism featuring Kwame Samori Brathwaite, the son of photojournalist, Kwame Brathwaite - the photographer and originator of the “Black is Beautiful” movement.

I finished the evening making a mini photo diorama/pocket gallery with artist LaShonda Cooks @shondasart . My first time making one! 😊

My evening at the Amon Carter museum was perfect. 😌

Shout out to @thebooknik for their upcoming fall tour to Houston, Atlanta, and Dallas. I def recommend joining their volunteer team. If you went to the April event in Dallas, then you most likely saw me waiting for you at the door - greeting folks, handing out BookNik bingo cards, and having a really good time. And... I ran into my gym friend from @eunoiafit

1 year worth of 💪🏾 growth. This time last year, when I took those photos at the top, I weighed 197 lbs. I had just finished my first year of teaching in Dallas. My first year was stressful and I was not eating well at all.

My meals were usually…
🔘 breakfast: eggs & waffles
🔘 lunch: subway sandwiches
🔘 dinner: margherita frozen pizzas
And weekly drinks: red wine or ciders

June 5th of this year, I weighed in at 172 lbs. The last time I was at this weight had to be in my early 20s. I am 39. 😊

Over the past 10 months, I’ve been in the gym @eunoiafit . We had a fitness challenge at the start of the year, which helped me with meal prepping and eating healthier. I’m also 10 months of no alcohol.

I’m on summer break, so I’ll be in the gym a lot more working on reaching my next benchmarks.

What a gift it is to be their advisor ✨. Students from our campus paper led our second photo walk, this time in downtown Dallas on Saturday. It was a beautiful day and we had a really good time.

On one of our stops, we went inside the Thanksgiving chapel which has a beautiful and colorful stained glass ceiling. There was also a piano there…which was probably forbidden for anyone to play. But little did I know of the musical talent that my students have. A couple of them played the piano beautifully and our group sang along. The last song they played was Bruno Mars - When I Was Your Man.

We have about 2 weeks left of the school year….with an awards banquet this coming week and graduation next week.

However, Saturday…was certainly a gift. 💝 by @heyproftaylor

Today is the day! I’m excited to have Morning News Anchor @kristindiaztv who’s all the way in Washington, DC to join my students online in Media Literacy and Intro to Mass Comm. I came across her content earlier this year during the Dallas winter storm and saw that she worked for @krldnews . I’m so happy that she was down to join our class and share about her journey in media and radio news! by @heyproftaylor
