if this helps one mama it’s worth it — find a dermatologist and get your skin checked. yes, it’s not uncommon for skin changes during pregnancy, but not all changes are normal.

melanoma is one of the few cancers that can transfer from the mother through the placenta to baby. this was new news to me and immediately made my already stressful covid pregnancy high risk. that meant more dr appts, more monitoring with (an amazing) maternal fetal medicine team.

fast forward to delivery, which was induced because my oncologist wanted the fast growing melanoma out asap. while my son was in the NICU, I was having my placenta biopsied and a pediatric oncologist walking in to speak with me and hours after giving birth.

we are all healthy and grateful, but that won’t stop me from spreading awareness and making sure that moms know the correlation between pregnancy and melanoma.

the caribbean’s best all-inclusive 🌊

we chose this for a big family vacation and it was 10/10 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 here are some highlights:

the room
ocean view junior suite with a balcony sofa the size of a small living room. bright, airy, peaceful. mini fridge stocked with things you actually want — Pringles and M&Ms, not random mini bottles (but those too). you flew all the way there, see the ocean IMO.

the food
breakfast made to order with tableside drink service — it doesn’t feel like a buffet, it feels like a restaurant. poolside BBQ every single day. so much is fresh and made to order. no icks, i promise. restaurants were no reservations but that wasn’t a problem on the early bird kids schedule like us.

the pool
plenty of chairs — grabbed the same spot every morning after breakfast, no scramble. community float bin, daily activities that come to you. waterpark is a 5 minute walk — lazy river, slides, taco truck, ice cream truck. v CLEAN 🧼

the family time
kids so entertained during the day and into the evening that parents got a real, uninterrupted dinner every night - like actual kid fun with a magician and slime station one afternoon. at night they movie setups with kids pickings - genius if you ask me.

the staff
the head of guest services walked the property asking if anyone was celebrating — same day we had champagne and cake delivered to our room for a birthday we hadn’t even fully announced. that’s the throughline of the whole trip.

when i tell you to book something, book it. 🌊

the food, the pool, the kids programming, the staff — it all delivered. this is the one i’ll be recommending to every family — kids, grandparents, everyone in between — asking me where to go in the Caribbean.
