My coaching business has been going through a revamp, since June 2022.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I shifted from a "Business Coach for Coaches" to a "Freedom Alchemist".
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A shift that was more like an overhaul. I got rid of all that was, to rebuild.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A few months ago I updated my About Me page on heysheedia.com again. With the newfound clarity that I work with people who are Actively Awakening to the Injustices against the Global Majority.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let's break that down.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Global Majority: Means people who come from countries that they've labeled "developing" and "third world". All those people are in the majority of the world and I don't agree with those shitty labels.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Injustices: There's an unjust unequal colonial capitalistic power balance in the world that allows a few to stay in power while subjugating others. We're consciously and unconsciously taught that unjust power balances are necessary to be "free". I don't agree with that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Actively Awakening: People who not only see that there's an unjust unequal colonial capitalistic power balance, but who are actively educating themselves about it and are (ready to) doing something about it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That's who I work with.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now on to what I help them do:
As a Freedom Alchemist, I help them experience more Freedom by Challenging the norms.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let's break that down.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Experience more: Let's be honest, we all experience some sort of freedom already. That's why the "more" is important.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Freedom: Freedom here is not about money, status, power, degrees, connections, or other capitalistic valuables. Freedom is about a feeling; an exhilarating liberating feeling that can happen with or without capitalistic valuables. Freedom looks different for everyone.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Challenging the norms: Whatever is standing in the way of you experiencing more freedom needs to be challenged. What's blocking your freedom is currently your norm, so we challenge it.

CUR Every date has a story. July 1st, 1863.

A date we know. But do we really know the stories behind it?

Throughout this series, we will explore the history, people, and moments that shaped the abolition of slavery in the Dutch Caribbean. Together with historians, researchers, and community voices, we will uncover the stories that continue to shape who we are today.

In today’s episode we tell the story of freedom and women.
Before, during, and after slavery, women carried families, preserved traditions, and made important decisions within their homes and communities. Their strength helped shape generations.

For a long time, however, women were expected to remain in the background—caring for children and households while opportunities beyond the home remained limited.
Yet across Curaçao and the former Netherlands Antilles, women have continually broken barriers. Long before many larger countries did, our islands recognized female leadership and saw women rise to the highest offices, including that of Prime Minister.

But the journey toward equality is not over. Around the world, and here at home, women still earn less, face higher expectations, and often have to work twice as hard to prove themselves.

As we remember our past, we also honor the women who came before us—the mothers, daughters, leaders, and changemakers whose courage continues to inspire the generations that follow.
