Halifax Story EP.02 | Moving to Nova Scotia changed my life in ways I never expected. When I first arrived in Canada, I was honestly more exhausted than excited. Over time, this place gave me space to slow down, breathe again, and reconnect with myself in a healthier way.

I also met so many kind people here. Through community, volunteering, conversations, and unexpected opportunities, I slowly started feeling more connected to life again. The life here brought an extra sense of happiness I never really expected(and I also met Shiba-Kun here 🐶💕). That’s a big reason why I started creating content about Halifax and Nova Scotia.

Not because life here is perfect. Every place has its pros and cons. But I genuinely enjoy sharing the parts of this place that brought comfort, connection, and joy into my life. Over the past 6 months, content creation has introduced me to so many new people, stories, opportunities, and experiences. And honestly, I’d love to keep doing it.

People often share the wins after reaching a certain stage. (I usually do too.) The new job. The new friends. The success stories. But honestly, some of the biggest lessons came from the things that didn’t work out for me.

After moving to Canada, I realized that rushing opportunities, trying to completely reinvent myself, trying too hard to stand out, or hoping my English would magically improve weren’t the answers I was looking for. What helped the most was slowing down, staying curious, and building a life around the things that genuinely mattered to me.

I still make mistakes all the time. But these days, I spend less energy trying to hide them and more energy trying to learn from them. Maybe someone out there is going through the same thing, and maybe this is a little reminder that not every path has to be perfect to be the right one.

5 years in Nova Scotia 🇨🇦 Five years already. How did that happen? Of course, there are so many more memories I could have included, but if I had to pick just 10, these would probably be some of my favourite moments from the past five years. Some were big milestones, some were completely new experiences, and some were just little moments that somehow stuck with me.

My first 000 hike 🌊

Seeing the 000 for the first time ✨

Becoming a 000 for the first time in Canada 💼

And then, 000 came into my life 🐶

Can you guess each of them? lol I’m just grateful for all the big and small moments I’ve had over the past five years. So now I’m curious… What should I add to my Nova Scotia bucket list for the next five years? 👀

Couldn’t stay away from the film world after all. After volunteering with the festival for years, I started a new role as Marketing Director this year. And honestly, this summer was a joy.

Filmmakers celebrating a single screening, people stopping by just to say hello, and a community that still loves watching films on the big screen. Being in the middle of it all felt incredibly fulfilling.

Also… I always wanted to try a @vanityfair style shoot. Didn’t expect it would happen here. Life really is unpredictable.

방앗간을 지나치지 못하고, 또 영화판에 발을 딛게 된 올해. 몇 년간 자원봉사로 연을 맺어온 영화제의 마케팅 디렉터로 새 일을 시작하고, 올 여름 참 즐겁게 일했다. 치열하고 예민한 일이라는 것은 다를바 없었지만, 시장의 규모가 작은만큼 다같이 잘해보자는 마음이 모난 사람들마저 보듬는 곳이었다. 단 한번의 상영기회에도 감격해 마지않는 이들의 빛나는 웃음들. 굳이굳이 찾아와 건네는 따뜻한 인사들. 여전히 스크린에서 영화를 보고싶은 이들의 축제 한 가운데서 충만한 행복을 느꼈다.

My Halifax beach rotation 🌊

Living in Nova Scotia means having some pretty incredible beaches just a drive away, and these are three of my personal favourites near Halifax depending on what kind of beach day I’m looking for.

🏖️Rainbow Haven Beach when I want a quick and easy beach day.

🏖️Crystal Crescent Beach when I want beautiful white sand, clear water, a trail walk, and yes, there’s even a clothing optional section👀

🏖️Martinique Beach when I have more time and really want to escape the city for a long, peaceful beach day.

These aren’t exactly hidden gems, but they’re the Nova Scotia beaches I keep going back to every summer. What’s your go to beach near Halifax? 🌊

After 5 years of Canada life, I made a big decision. Took some time… but it felt right to share finally.

I welcomed a new family member 🐶🐩🥳💕 Meet Shiba-kun. My adorable, playful, and sweet miniature poodle.

Not my first time having a dog, but this time, it means so much more for many reasons. I will focus on a new good routine with him, new responsibility for him, and enjoying puppy life day by day, probably with my new best friend.

2 Must-Try Activities Before Summer Ends in Halifax☀️

Summer is flying by, and I’m making the most of every sunny day in Halifax. This time, I explored Timberlea, just outside Halifax downtown, and found one of my favourite summer adventures at @lunaradventureshfx

I started with a dog-friendly paddle boat on a peaceful lake, then switched things up with an e-bike ride. I honestly didn’t expect the e-bike to be that much fun, but it completely surprised me.

If you’re looking for things to do in Halifax or planning a summer day trip in Nova Scotia, this is definitely worth adding to your list. Whether you’re visiting with friends, family, or your dog, it’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors before summer comes to an end.

Last week, I had the chance to lead a final lecture session for aspiring entrepreneurs at a #SMU

Instead of focusing on #marketing #branding theory, we explored real case studies from recent global and local brands, sharing practical insights that can actually be applied when building a business.

The preparation process and the conversations with students were both meaningful and energizing. Grateful to end the year with moments like this, sharing experiences and learning together 💗

A few years ago, whenever I felt stressed, I’d usually deal with it by going out for drinks at night. Living in Nova Scotia has completely changed that.

Now, I spend my free time kayaking at sunset, exploring quiet beaches, and making memories with my dog. I wasn’t just discovering new places. I was discovering a more genuine version of myself.

Living here has given me the chance to understand myself more deeply and discover what truly brings me peace. And for that, I’ll always be grateful.

Life with Shibakun • Ep.01 🐶

3 dog-friendly spots in Dartmouth we’ve been loving lately.

@dorakudartmouth great foods, friendly staff, easy to access. Best choice to stop by and rest with my puppy.

@krusthaus25 Good drinks and fresh bread in a quiet neighbourhood ☕️

@homedepotcanada @homedepot Huge pet-friendly space with a cart, and great little stop for walking around together (We enjoyed a garden section!)

One of my favorite parts of puppy life in Halifax has been discovering more dog-friendly places around my neighbourhood ❤️
