Believe it or not, the hardest part of this project was the wordmark. Three letters. How complicated could it be? When it’s simple, there’s nowhere for things to hide! Every curve, every line, every bump shows. I’m not kidding when I say I spent HOURS making sure every letter was just right. Brand refresh for RAW 🐟 Calgary’s original hand roll bar was born from two friends and their love of bringing people together over food. Over the years, RAW has become a local go-to spot and a close-knit community. After a few years in business with a brand they built from scratch, RAW was ready to refresh and refine its identity for the next chapter of growth. Flexibility and legibility of the existing logo was limited, and the brand felt inconsistent across its digital, print, and in-store experiences. The new identity solves this with considered moves that add polish and sophistication without straying far from what makes RAW, RAW. It was also important to maintain their locally owned and boutique identity without becoming pretentious or inaccessible. So, the goal became to preserve the familiarity, quality and community at the heart of the brand, while evolving the identity into a system that will grow with them. The result is a visual identity that feels clean, refined, and mature, yet still grounded. Upgraded, but not out of reach. Branding, design, graphic designer, freelance by @heyvivilee

Notifications ignored, social calendar full. ☺️ Doing a lot of offline living lately and loving it! Here are a few highlights✨ Passed my 90 days at the new gig with flying colours! Became a restauranteur - but only of roast beef. 🍖 The BEEF The mahjong room Wrapped up some client projects! Performed (and won!!) at the Kokuyosa Yosakoi festival!! Made oxtail noodle soup for Odie’s birthday. He LOVED it. Part of why I’ve been quiet here lately… An opportunity popped up to try agency life, and I said YES! It’s not exactly where I thought I’d be at this point in my career, but in the last few months of freelancing, I was feeling the burnout, anxiety, and stress that comes with having to wear all the hats. Going out on my own taught me a lot about what parts of the business I love—and what parts I really don’t (but still have to do to keep the whole thing running). It also made me realize there’s still so much I want to learn. I’d love to have a mentor, a team, and a support system around me as I figure out what’s next. So, with this new role, I’m also learning what I actually want to spend my time on outside of it. I don’t know exactly what that looks like yet—but I’m ok with that. Part of this season of life is trying new things, figuring out what works (and what doesn’t) and most importantly—listening to your own voice. Because what’s the point of doing any of this if you forget the strength of your voice along the way? by @heyvivilee

A fresh new look for @jovascreationsyyc 💅✨ My longtime nail artist, waxing queen and friend Jojo was ready for a brand refresh that felt more like her. When she first set out to build her own studio, she created everything from the ground up. As her business has grown and evolved, she knew it was time for a brand and visual identity that better reflects her personality and the Jovas Creations experience.
