From the soul of Congo to the streets of Geelong, Baraka The Kid is more than a musician, he’s a storyteller, a cultural bridge and a rising voice in Australian music. Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and raised in Zambia before settling in Geelong, Baraka’s journey has been anything but ordinary. Music has been his companion since the age of 15, when songwriting became a way to find peace and purpose. Influenced by gospel, afropop and hip-hop, his sound blends English and Swahili with heartfelt honesty and vibrant beats. His 2024 single “All My Life” a tribute to his mother introduced audiences to his emotional depth and cultural pride. Since then, he’s been named one of triple j Unearthed’s “artists to watch,” performed at Pako Festa, and worked with industry mentors through Creative Victoria’s GRID Series. In September 2024, Baraka was nominated for Best Hip Hop Work and Best Regional Act at the Music Victoria Awards solidifying his impact on the local scene. And now, in 2025, he’s just released “Count On U”, the first single from his upcoming afrobeat/pop EP a project rooted in love, language and lived experience. He’s also the proud founder of Highly Favoured Records an independent label built to uplift emerging artists. Rooted in authenticity and purpose, the label helps young creatives develop their brand, find their voice and tell their stories in an industry that often overlooks them. Baraka created it as a safe, empowering space for artists with something real to say. Whether singing about home, hope or healing, Baraka’s music resonates. His lyrics are honest, his vocals smooth and his passion undeniable. Each song is a reflection of where he’s been and where he’s headed. If you haven’t heard Baraka The Kid, now’s the time. His voice is powerful, his presence magnetic, and his future bright. This is just the beginning. 📸 by @highlyfavoured.records @biddle.biddle Mark Peterson @joest.creative by @hf.mgmt

I knew I was built for rooms like this. Sydney with Sony Music Publishing and GRID Series. Creating, connecting, and sharpening the craft alongside some incredible talent. This is bigger than the music — it’s about the vision, the work, and everything I’m building towards. I’ve always believed in where I’m going. Now I’m putting in the work to get there. BARAKA THE KID. Remember the name. 🫡 . . #BARAKATHEKID #SonyMusicPublishing #GRIDSeries #Songwriting #sonymusicaustralia @sonymusicpubaus @sonymusicaustralia @grid_series @warnermusicaustralia taken in Sydney, Australia by @hf.mgmt
