Added extra steps to my long ride on Sunday by completing Ironman Vitoria Gastiez 2025. I was glad to be out of the swim and onto the bike leg which is the part I enjoy the most. The rolling course suited me well and it was the perfect rollercoaster for a fast split with a great backdrop of the Basque country side with Landa lake in the middle of the course. The first lap went really well in terms of the power I was aiming to average, the average speed I was targeting and my fueling and hydration plan.

As I was half way through the second lap the heat of the day was becoming increasingly apparent and I had to back off my targets slightly to avoid overheating due to my equipment choices on the day as I had been contemplating between the aero TT helmet and a more breathable road helmet for days.

As the race went on I adapted my plan to include more hydration through the supplied Precision fuel and hydration supplied at the aide stations on course and bottles of water to quickly shower myself before continuing to the next aide station.

All in all I'm happy with the time I managed to achieve and the adaptions I made to my plan on the move, combined with my prior training and racing with AGC Cycling allowed me to set a new PB in 90km, 100km and 160km finishing overall with an average speed of 33.2kmph. 🏊🏼‍♂️🚴🏼‍♂️🏃🏼‍♂️ taken in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Pais Vasco, Spain by @hfm.tri

ACCXRS Rd 1 - Buckley Bks Rd 1

3 of our riders competed in Rd 1 of the Army Cycling Cyclocross Race Series today held at Buckley Bks.

A good course to suit all ability’s it’s was perfect for Tim Stringer for whom it was his first ever CX race.

It was a double win day with Dan Cross taking the overall win but as an Army Team Rider stepped out of the results meaning Harry Millikin took 🥇 in the senior category. A great start to the season for him.

If you are thinking about coming along just do it. You won’t regret it. It’s a discipline that offers a little of everything and we would love to have you along - cyclocross bike, gravel bike, mountain or downhill bikes, all are welcome.

Rd 2 is in Harrogate on the 4th November 26. If you need any details get in touch.
