Pakistan reminded me that the world is vast and I am small, and somehow that made me feel more connected to everything. Every border crossed, every tradition witnessed, every conversation with a stranger, every moment of being completely out of your element changes something in you.

Travel doesn’t just show us new places, it shows you new versions of who we can become. The more you experience how different and beautiful the world can be, the more you understand what actually connects us all. Real growth happens when you trade your comfort zone for curiosity. 🌍🎬  You wanna grow? Be strong? Smart? Aware?

Ep.1 of movies you should watch:

This movie changed my life. Released back in 2013, I first watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty in 2018. I was in an eerily similar position in life and this film didn’t just entertain, but changed the trajectory of my entire life. Walter Mitty spends his whole life daydreaming about living. Then one day, he has no choice but to actually do it. What follows is one of the most quietly beautiful films ever made, about a guy who stops watching life from the sidelines and finally steps into it. Anytime I am feeling stuck, lost, or just excited about what’s on the horizon, this is a film I keep coming back to.

Ah yes… The Creative Gap.
Impeccable taste but my hands just can’t keep up.
That endless chase between what I see and what I can actually make.
It’s frustrating.
But weirdly exciting.
Like I’m always one step away from something great, even if I can’t touch it yet.
So I keep going.
Because honestly, I don’t think the gap ever really closes (for me at least 🥲). You just get better at dancing with it.

Ep. 3 of movies you should watch: Perfect Days (2023), directed by Wim Wenders.

This isn’t a movie I would normally watch. I almost didn’t.

But it might be one of the most quietly powerful films I’ve seen in years. It’s slow. Patient. Soft. The kind of film that doesn’t hit you right away, but lingers and finds you in the smallest moments.

If you’re a fan of film, do yourself the favour and watch this one.

Quick backstory I couldn’t fit in the video: in the 1950s, critics loved trashing science fiction by pointing at its worst stories. “Ninety percent of it is garbage,” they’d say.

Sci-fi writer Theodore Sturgeon finally pushed back. Sure, ninety percent of sci-fi is crud. But so is ninety percent of movies, books, music… everything. Judge anything by its worst and it all looks bad. Judge it by its best ten percent, and that’s where the magic is ✨

I think about that a lot with my own work. The flops, the drafts I delete, the stuff that’s just fine. It’s not proof I’m bad at this. It’s the cost of the ten percent.

Ep. 1 “I need everyone to like me” 💭 Was a constant thought I had in the back of my mind, for a long time. I mean, who doesn’t like to be liked? It feels great. It feels like acceptance.

But the issue with constantly trying to seek the approval of others, is you eventually move further and further away from the most authentic version of yourself.

The very things you’re trying to change about yourself, are THE very things that will bring those life changing people into your life. 🤌🏼

Are we becoming too efficient?

With each passing year, it feels more and more like we’re trying to further optimize, become more efficient, shorten the distance between us and the thing. And I get it. Obviously it makes sense to optimize things, to try and become more efficient. But with the rise of Gen Ai, I’m left wondering, are we optimizing too much? Are we headed to a point where no one is living in the process? The bad ideas, the failed attempts, the starting over, the wrestling with something until it works, sometimes that IS the part that makes you better. And I understand it’s a spectrum. But what a shame it would be to not discover who you’d be at the end of the process. 💡
