_Sanatorium d'Aincourt
Section Model

Built in the 1930s, the Aincourt Sanatorium is a major example of hygienist sanatorium architecture, originally designed for tuberculosis treatment before facing progressive obsolescence and partial abandonment.

This project explores the dialectic between construction and destruction, treating the ruin not as a site for total conversion, but as the foundation for an architecture of reuse.
The objective is to structure a cultural "third place" that institutionalizes the spontaneous activities, notably graffiti, that emerged after the building's decommissioning.

The intervention takes the form of localized operations at strategic points, developing workshops and workspaces for resident artists, completed by an exhibition pavilion on the terrace.

By placing temporality at the heart of the design, the project questions the relationship between the products of civilization and their ecological environment, and highlights the effect of time on the built environment, and by extension, on our perception of heritage.
