Our last Meet the Founders 💜🤍

Meet Courtland James, President & Co-Founder of Healing Hearts Nursing Foundation 💜🤍

Courtland James began her nursing journey at Tuskegee University. Although the path came with a few challenges along the way, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology before continuing her education at Lawson State Community College, where she obtained her LPN and later her RN license.

With six years of nursing experience, Courtland has had the opportunity to travel across the country as a travel nurse alongside one of her best friends, gaining valuable experience while caring for diverse patient populations.

As a child, Courtland originally dreamed of becoming a pediatrician, but with encouragement from her mother, she discovered her passion for nursing. When patients ask why she chose nursing — and why she continues to choose it every day — her answer is simple:
“I want to be a light to people in what could be the darkest time of their lives.”

As her career goals continue to evolve, Courtland has recently stepped away from travel nursing and is now beginning a new chapter as a Cardiovascular ICU nurse.

Fun Fact: Courtland holds a second-degree black belt in Karate and enjoys exploring new places — but also appreciates a good nap. by @hhnursingfoundation

Up next on today’s Meet the Founders 💜🤍

Meet Co-Founder & Social Media Executive, Dr. Anderica Gunnerson

Anderica Gunnerson earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Birmingham-Southern College, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (Family Nurse Practitioner) degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Her passion for helping others has always been at the heart of her journey. She began as a pre-health student with aspirations of becoming a pediatrician, but an internship with a Family Nurse Practitioner at her pediatrician’s office—along with meaningful experiences with nurses over the years—shifted her path toward nursing. That decision ultimately led her to the fulfilling career she holds today.

Anderica’s love for people, combined with her desire to encourage and inspire others, continues to fuel her purpose. She strives to be a light in the lives of those she encounters, both professionally and personally.

Fun Fact: Outside of her career, Anderica enjoys fitness, traveling the world, art, poetry, and music. by @hhnursingfoundation
