The day my sons left Zanzibar was one of the hardest days of my life. It felt like the whole world changed in an instant. The beautiful blue ocean and sky suddenly looked black to me, and the green trees seemed to turn white. Nothing looked the same anymore.
Their laughter, their little voices, their presence… everything suddenly felt so far away. Home felt empty, and my heart felt even emptier.
I miss them more than words could ever explain. No matter how strong I try to be, there are moments when the tears just come. 😢
My boys, you took a piece of my heart with you when you left. May Allah protect you, keep you safe, and bring us back together soon. ❤️🤲🏽
